He is actively engaged in training and supervision of orthopaedic surgeons, regularly speaks at national and international level conferences and undertakes teaching at the University of Sydney for the Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Medicine. Good orthopaedic management begins with thorough assessment and consideration of non-operative interventions where appropriate. The formation of a long-term treatment relationship between patient and surgeon ensures that where surgery is required it is appropriate and well considered. Approaching each patient with an individualised management plan has long been a pillar of good orthopaedic practice and Dr Franks is committed to this principle. With increasing accessibility to newer technologies, individualised management plans can be complemented by individualised surgical solutions.
