OT treatment addresses your safety and independence in performing Activities of Daily Living (ADLs). ADLs can include anything from getting in and out of bed, meal preparation, grocery shopping, playing sports, employment, volunteering, etc. The OT may assess your physical abilities, cognitive abilities, and behavioural/emotional status affecting your ability to participate in everyday activities and will provide treatment recommendations. Recommendations can include: assistive devices and therapy sessions focused on teaching you new ways of doing things, regaining skills or developing new skills. OT's may also provide recommendations to adapt the environment to help improve your safety and independence.
