He has an everlasting affinity for exploring frontiers, tackling challenges, immersing himself in learning about the world we live in, and continuous practice in the art of being human. He has been with us at MIS since October 2022, beginning first with managing the school's operations at the new campus, and now also teaching Secondary students Social Studies and Economics. While growing up Mr. Dylan was always in and around schools and educational institutions. His father was a K-8 teacher/vice-principal and a high-school student counselor, while his mother was the librarian at a marine biology graduate institute. The nature of their work provided an on-going window into the back-end of running schools, teaching, research, and educational principles to which he attributes a large part of his in influence to become a teacher and school administrator. Mr. Dylan graduated from university in 1997 with a bachelor's degree in business and an additional focus on Japan's language, history, and political-economic science. Upon completing his studies, he moved to Japan where he worked 12 years as a junior high school English teacher. Although his intention was to eventually move into Japan's business sector, his intended career path changed as he quickly fell in love with teaching young learners, the creative effort in developing innovative lessons, the opportunity to use his diverse background and experiences to inspire students of all ages in expanding their skill sets, academic and non-academic, and the non-tangible rewards of contributing to the future of so many who yearn to become modern-day global citizens. Kuta Lombok has been Mr. Dylan's home since he arrived in 2009 to pursue business opportunities, setting up and managing multiple companies associated with the local real estate market, property development, and foreign investment advisory services.
