MANGATTIDAM

Mangattidam is an inland village in the Kannur District of Kerala. During the British rule, the place was in the Kottayam state of Malabar, which was part of the old Madras state. Mangattidam UP School was founded during the dawn of the renaissance movement in Kerala. It is the only educational institution known as Mangattidam in the heart of Mangattidam Panchayath... Established in 1892, the school was started as Mangattidam Elementary School and was founded by Sri Kannoth Kandi Kanaran who was an Onakkan Gurukkal. He was a scholar and civic leader, and was the school's principal and manager at the time. After his demise, his heirs took over the management of the school and its activities. The school was later handed over to the new management in 2020.
