I had been selling my images since I was 15. By the time I was 19 I thought I was pretty good. I got hired on a part time basis to carry stuff for a photographer. So in a sense all I was, was very cheap labor to carry stuff, my ability with a camera was incidental... I spent years with this photographer, then I got hired to be an assistant to other photographers, working my way up until I was the photographer. At age 31 I went out on my own and was successful... It was the best of photography, it was the worst of nothing, it was the age of sharing, it was the age of privacy, it was the epoch of pros, it was the epoch of snapshooters.
