A Notary Public (sometimes called a notary or a public notary) in New Zealand is a lawyer authorised to officially witness signatures on legal documents, collect sworn statements, administer oaths and certify the authenticity of legal documents for use overseas. By International Convention (Law) the Notary signature and seal are recognised in all other Countries... For documents requiring signing the Notary will identify you then see you sign the document... For documents not requiring signing the Notary must be able to see the original or verify the document directly with the issuing authority or institution.
