Since 1999, ICD supports the economic development of its 55-member countries through the provision of Islamic finance for private sector projects. ICD also promotes competitiveness and entrepreneurship, provides advisory solutions to governments and private sector entities and encourages cross-border investments via a tailored suite of product and service offerings. The shareholders of ICD are the IsDB, 55 countries and five public financial institutions. ICD's Strategy, Policy and Research Department prepares policy insights and research papers on major challenges and issues faced by its member countries' private sector and entrepreneurship, and its Development Effectiveness Department measures and reports the Corporation's development results with the aim of maximising ICD's contribution in enhancing the factors and conditions which enable member countries to achieve their development goals.
