CANBERRA WATER LEAK LOCATING & DETECTION SERVICE - Key Persons

Robert Edwards

Job Titles:
  • Our Owner
Our owner Robert Edwards started as a plumber in 1985, working in the NSW snowfields. Most of the water leaks he attended were the result of frozen water pipes. Back then, no one had electronic leak locating equipment, and drain cameras and drain locating equipment were not available. Water leaks and drainage pipes were found with pure plumbing knowledge, intuition and a lot of digging. The mot-difficult water leak he located was at Perisher, where he had to dig through 1,500mm of snow and another 900mm of frozen soil to get to a leaking valve, whilst in a blizzard. Robert went on to start 6 Star Hot Water & Plumbing and has been operating in the Canberra and Queanbeyan region since 1991. The biggest water leak he has repaired in Canberra was at a set of units in Fadden in 2012, where the excess water bill was $15,000.00. The second biggest was at the French Embassy where the excess was $8,000.00. Robert and the team have found ingenious ways to locate plastic pipes too. In 2014, at the Indian High Commission, our team found a water leak in a plastic pipe within 6 hours, in an area close to 12,000 square metres. The only hole they dug was with a shovel directly over the leak.
