Charlotte Spira

Charlotte Spira is a conservation science advisor and data analyst. Her role in the WILDMEAT project is to identify and conduct analyses of wild meat harvest, trade, and consumption needed to inform policy and practice, firstly across Central Africa, and then more specifically for the Sustainable Wildlife Management (SWM) Programme and its sites. Charlotte holds an MSc in Conservation Science from Imperial College London, UK, and has worked and conducted research in DRCongo, Madagascar, South Africa, Kenya, India, and France.

Dr Dan Ingram

Dr Dan Ingram is currently a Future Leaders Research Fellow at the University of Kent. Dan is a founding member of the WILDMEAT project, and his role is to lead research efforts, conduct data analyses, and design indicators to track the harvest, consumption, and sale of wild meat to inform conservation actions and policies. Dan is also the principal investigator of a UKRI-funded research programme investigating the consumption of wild meat in urban areas.

Francis N Tarla

Francis N Tarla is a retired lecturer of ruminant nutrition at the Faculty of Agronomy, University of Dschang and from 2003 to 2014 he was Director of the Garoua Regional Wildlife College, both in Cameroun. He coordinated the Regional Network of Central African Forestry and Environment Training Institutions (RIFFEAC) from 2004 to2010. He has been a capacity building consultant since 2014 and coordinated the MENTOR-Progress on Pangolins Fellowship Programme, a collaborative initiative between the US Fish and Wildlife Service and the Zoological Society of London (ZSL). Today he is director of the Central African Bushmeat Action Group (CABAG) and coordinating the MENTOR-Bushmeat Fellowship Programme at ZSL Cameroon Office. Main interest has always been, in addition to capacity development, in the domain of community conservation initiatives.

Jasmin Willis

Jasmin Willis is currently a PhD student at the University of Oxford, studying the role of women in wild meat systems, including their degree of influence in wild meat decision-making and management, and how women's inclusion can enhance conservation outcomes. Alongside her research, Jasmin continues to work for the WILDMEAT Project and has done since November 2020. Jasmin led the development of the WILDMEAT Interventions Database and is also responsible for inputting datasets on wildmeat consumption, offtake, and market sales into the WILDMEAT Use Database.

Katharine Abernethy

Lauren Coad

Job Titles:

Lauren is a Research Fellow at CIFOR and at the University of Oxford. She conducted her PhD in Gabon on the socioeconomics of wildmeat use in rural villages and has subsequently conducted further studies on wildmeat use in Gabon and Cambodia. Lauren's role in the WILDMEAT project is overall project management, especially concerning the development of the WILDMEAT database and toolkit.
