Justin Sheldon

Job Titles:
  • Attorney
  • Partner
  • Partner / Richmond
After graduating cum laude from the University of Richmond School of Law in 2011, Justin Sheldon began his legal career with a large national firm doing high-stakes business litigation. He soon moved on to a boutique firm specializing in auto products liability litigation throughout the United States. In that role, he was on the trial team for Porsche, Honda, Toyota, Kia, and Hyundai when those companies were sued for the serious injury or death of car crash victims. Finding that his sympathy and passion were with those who had been injured, Justin decided to change his legal career path and began representing injury victims and their families. From his experience as a defense lawyer, Justin knew that the single most powerful tool in representing injury victims and their families was the jury trial. As a plaintiffs' attorney, Justin works every single case with the full intention of taking it to trial and having a jury decide. In the years that Justin has represented victims and their families, he has tried at least five jury trials each year, along the way winning a verdict of $1,250,000 in King William County, Virginia, which is currently the largest jury verdict in that county. After several years representing injured people, Justin became aware of the growing crisis facing nursing home residents and their families. He has developed a passion for helping those that have been badly injured and killed because of the neglect and abuse nursing home residents endure from the companies that are supposed to care for them. Because much of the abuse and neglect is the direct result of financial decisions nursing homes and their parent companies are making, his business litigation experience has proved invaluable in navigating these complex cases. Justin also served as counsel securing a $38.2 million settlement for a class action lawsuit that included more than 10,750 universal life insurance policy holders of Banner Life Insurance Co. and William Penn Life Insurance Co. The plaintiffs in these class actions alleged that the companies unjustifiably increased the cost of insurance charges on the policies for the sole purpose of benefiting shareholders and clearing their near-term liabilities. Justin's dedication to preparing every case for trial has also led to multiple settlements for individuals over $1,000,000. Refusing to be content with past success, he is constantly searching for ways to represent his clients better, attending conferences and reading books on trial skills. His dedication to improvement is reflected in the many recognitions that he has received, including being named a "Rising Star" by Virginia Super Lawyers® from 2015-2020 and a Super Lawyer 2021-2022, being named a "Top 40 Under 40" by the National Trial Lawyers, receiving the "Up & Coming Lawyer" award from Virginia Lawyers Weekly in 2021, and being selected by Best Lawyers® as "Ones to Watch" for 2022 and 2023. Justin and his wife, Laura, have three young sons that keep them busy. Justin is very excited to raise his sons to be young men of character and considers that responsibility the most important calling he has. Attorney Justin Sheldon is recognized by Virginia Super Lawyers® as a "Rising Star" from 2015 to 2020. Attorney Justin Sheldon is awarded the Virginia State Bar "Significant Service" award in 2013 and 2016. Justin Sheldon has been honored by Super Lawyers® for being recognized by Thomson Reuters in 2022. Justin Sheldon has been recognized by his peers on the "Ones to Watch" list in 2022 and 2023. Justin Sheldon has been honored by Super Lawyers® for being recognized by Thomson Reuters in 2023. Education J.D., University of Richmond School of Law, cum laude B.A., Roanoke College Practice Areas: Brain Injury, Product Liability, Wrongful Death, Nursing Home Abuse

Lauren A. Martin

Job Titles:
  • Attorney at Law
  • Attorney at Law / Virginia Beach
Before Lauren Martin emerged as one of Virginia's top personal injury lawyers, she spent some time enjoying the great outdoors. From 2013 to 2015, Lauren worked as a wrangler at Triangle X Ranch outside of Jackson, Wyoming during the warm seasons and at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort during the colder months. Surrounded by the rugged, snow-capped peaks of Grand Teton National Park, Lauren spent long days working with horses, taking ranch guests on rides around the park, and learning the value of hard work. Today, this diligence serves her well as an attorney with Breit Biniazan. Though the jump from wrangler to attorney at law may seem like a stretch, Lauren was destined to be a lawyer. Born and raised in Norfolk, Virginia, Lauren was molded and encouraged by her mother, an art gallery owner, and her father, a Norfolk Circuit Court judge. "Growing up, I would often ask my father what he did at work that day when we sat down together at the dinner table," Lauren says. "At the time, I never thought about whether I would become a lawyer, but I definitely noticed that my dad seemed to enjoy going to work every day." While wrangling in the Cowboy State, Lauren began to realize how similar she was to her father and how "becoming an attorney seemed like the next obvious step." That's when she packed her bags and headed back east to Washington and Lee University School of Law, where she earned her Juris Doctor in 2018. Making Her Community a Better Place, One Case at a Time After law school, Lauren worked as a criminal defense attorney at Protogyrou Law and later as a trial lawyer at Stris & Maher LLP. But she has always felt drawn to personal injury litigation, a specialty that allows her to better serve her hometown. "As a child, you don't think about the level at which you're participating in your community," she says. "Now, as an adult living in the same town in which I grew up, it's important to be in a position where I have opportunities to make my community better." Lauren brings a compassionate yet tenacious spirit to Breit Biniazan. Thanks to her experience, Lauren knows how to fight for the justice clients deserve. Before attending Washington and Lee University School of Law, Lauren earned her Bachelor of Arts in political science from Washington and Lee University. She is a member of the Norfolk Portsmouth Bar Association, Virginia Bar Association, and Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys. Outside of the courtroom, Lauren volunteers with the Chrysler Museum, Hermitage Museum and Gardens, and her neighborhood garden club. Though she still rides horses, her main hobby these days is Franny, her 14-year-old pup who will "fall over where she's standing for a belly rub." Education J.D., Washington and Lee University School of Law (2018) B.A., Washington and Lee University (2013) - Political Science Previous Experience Associate Attorney, Stris & Maher LLP (2021-2022) Practice Areas: Brain Injury, Car Accidents, Premises Liability, Wrongful Death Previous experience in corporate defense Expertise in legal research and brief writing

Lee Floyd

Job Titles:
  • Partner
  • Partner / Richmond
Before joining Breit Biniazan, Lee Floyd spent a decade defending some of the country's largest and most influential corporations. From pharmaceutical companies to national automotive manufacturers, Lee worked in the trenches with impressive battalions of attorneys and seemingly unlimited resources. Lee was the first female partner in the products liability group of one of the nation's leading law firms and the youngest partner in that firm's history. In 2019, she was one of only ten lawyers selected nationwide to join the prestigious Products Liability Advisory Council's as a Future Leader. During this time Lee was recognized consistently: by Super Lawyers® as a "Rising Star" and by Best Lawyers in America® as "Ones to Watch." She has received national recognition by Benchmark Litigation as a partner in the Product Liability Firm of the Year and is the only attorney in Virginia to be recognized on their "40 and Under Hot List" list five years running. On paper, she displays the kind of career that many attorneys aspire to achieve. But that wasn't enough for Lee. She wanted more. During the pandemic, as a paralegal at her previous firm, she was grappling with something much larger: a diagnosis of stage four metastatic breast cancer. She was only given a short time to live. There was hope, though. If the paralegal, who was also a single mom, could receive a very expensive treatment, there was a chance she would be given more time with her three year old son. That's when Lee became an advocate. She banded together with other women, started a social media campaign, organized crowdfunding, and solicited help from powerful and connected people to get her paralegal the assistance she so desperately needed. Lee fought fiercely until, finally, the paralegal received the world class oncology care she deserved. "That's when I learned that the highest and best use of my time isn't representing corporate defendants to keep money in their bank accounts," says Lee. "The highest and best use of my time is to help others when they have nowhere else to turn." Lee Floyd has been honored by Super Lawyers® for being recognized as a Rising Star in 2022. Lee Floyd is the only attorney in Virginia to be recognized on the "40 & Under Hot List." She's been recognized for five years running. Lee Floyd is recognized by her peers as a top attorney in the areas of product liability and personal injury. Practice Areas: Product Liability, Sexual Abuse, Mass Torts, Class Action

Sarah G. Sauble

Job Titles:
  • Attorney at Law
  • Attorney at Law / Richmond
  • Member of the John Marshall Inns of Court
Prior to joining Breit Biniazan, Attorney Sarah Sauble worked on the defense side handling a variety of personal injury, premises liability, and product liability matters. Defending major retailers, including Fortune 100 companies, Sarah gained a great deal of invaluable litigation experience, but she felt discontent that her "big wins" amounted to saving large corporations sums of money that are close to meaningless to that company, but would have been extraordinarily meaningful to the Plaintiff on the other side of the case. Sarah is excited to bring her vigorous advocacy to help advance the injury cases of clients. A New Jersey native, Sarah came to Richmond to attend the University of Richmond School of Law, where she was a finalist in the Carrico Moot Court Board Competition and a semi-finalist in the Client Counseling and Negotiation Competition. Due to her strong performance in bankruptcy courses, Sauble was selected by the University of Richmond faculty to receive the American Bankruptcy Institute Medal of Excellence. Sarah is a member of the John Marshall Inns of Court, the Moot Court Board Internal Committee, and a volunteer for the Veterans and Military Law Association. Practice Areas: Premises Liability, Product Liability, Mass Torts, Class Action

Scott M. Perry

Job Titles:
  • Attorney
  • Partner
Before joining Breit Biniazan, accomplished trial lawyer Scott Perry served as a founding partner of Perry Charnoff, PLLC. Scott is honored to have been inducted as a member of the Inner Circle, a group of the Top 100 Plaintiff's lawyers in the United States. The members of the Inner Circle have obtained the highest verdicts and settlements throughout the country. Perry knows that it's not just luck, but skill that gets personal injury lawyers the best result. He strives to surround himself with like-minded attorneys who enjoy the challenge of pushing the status quo and raising the bar for trial practice, which is why he joined forces with Breit Biniazan. Perry, who has a history of creating change in his community, strives to leverage this partnership to make an even greater impact for his clients and the communities he serves. Several years ago, Scott represented a family in a devastating case involving a drowning on the Potomac River. The victim, an 18-year-old Filipino immigrant, became a rowing coach while on summer break from his Ivy League university. Unfortunately, one beautiful day, the victim was thrown from the launch and tragically drowned-despite being a strong swimmer. When Perry looked into the case further, he discovered that the sport of rowing in the U.S. fell well behind its European counterparts when it came to safety. Coaches in other countries are required to wear special life vests and safety lanyards-and he successfully argued that safety measures like these could have prevented this tragedy. Perry's represented families in several other sporting injury and wrongful death cases since then. Scott's unique litigation approach led to multiple multi-million-dollar verdicts and settlements, including: A $35.6 million jury verdict for a catastrophically injured client A $16 million settlement on behalf of a young man who suffered catastrophic injuries during a routine hospitalization A $12 million medical malpractice jury verdict for a family who lost a 39-year-old wife and mother due to an undiagnosed blood clot A $10 million verdict on behalf of a young man permanently injured during a school event A $7.8 million settlement on behalf of a young woman fatally injured during surgery A $4.5 million sexual abuse lawsuit involving two special-needs adults who were raped and impregnated by a workshop employee A $3.0 million medical malpractice verdict for the family of a lawyer whose heart was punctured during a minor procedure A $2.0 million medical malpractice jury verdict for a woman whose leg was amputated when a blood clot went undiagnosed A $1.55 million medical malpractice verdict for a federal worker whose ureter was sewed shut during a hysterectomy A $1.50 million premises liability lawsuit for the family of a child who drowned in a pool A $1.5 million settlement on behalf of a young teacher who suffered a brain injury after falling on black ice A $1.5 million settlement on behalf of a woman who suffered permanent brain injuries during surgery Attorney Scott M. Perry has been recognized as one of the Super Lawyers® in 2008-2023. As an attorney, Don Scott offers innocent clients dogged representation in the courtroom, refusing to back down despite the cunning tactics employed by the other side. He works tirelessly because he understands integrity, service, and sacrifice. He also understands a feeling many Breit Biniazan clients experience in the wake of a catastrophic event: helplessness. Growing up, Don was one of six children raised by a single mother in a rough Houston neighborhood. In third grade, he exhibited academic promise and was soon bussed to a better elementary school. After graduating from high school, Don studied agricultural education at Texas A&M University. In 1987, he finished the program and joined the United States Navy, where he served as a Surface Warfare Officer. While deployed on the USS John Hancock, Don served as the ship's legal officer. The experience forever changed his trajectory. In 1991, he began pursuing his law degree at Louisiana State University. He graduated in 1994. Practice Areas: Medical Malpractice, Product Liability, Truck Accidents, Wrongful Death
