Before that, he was the chief financial officer of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. In addition, he was a White House Fellow in the Clinton administration and an assistant to the US Secretary of Defense. Previously, Alina worked with the Ministry of Health in eSwatini to expand access to essential services, as a member of the Clinton Health Access Initiative's health financing team. She has also advised the Government of Rwanda on the development of nascent export-oriented industries, and supported nonprofit and corporate clients with Dalberg Advisors in Nairobi, Kenya. Earlier in her career, Alina managed randomized evaluations of entrepreneurship training programs with Innovations for Poverty Action in Uganda.

Andrew Chen is a Vice President of Impact Investments. His work includes oversight of the UP Fund, expanding the firm's work in energy efficiency and building resiliency, and streamlining data partnerships.
Previous to this role, Andrew spent over 20 years as an entrepreneur and impact investor. He was a Managing Director at BlueHub Capital overseeing the firm's community development venture capital activities. He invested, monitored or served on the boards of portfolio companies including Zipcar (IPO and now a division of Avis Budget Group (NASDAQ: CAR)), Acelero Learning, SelecTech, CASTion (acquired by ThermoEnergy), TracRac (acquired by a PE firm), and geoVue (acquired by Versata). Andrew also served as the founding CEO of WegoWise, a building efficiency analytics platform funded by BlueHub that integrated building performance data with sustainable real estate management practices. WegoWise was acquired by AppFolio (NASDAQ: APPF).

Andrew Marino is a Senior Managing Director and Head of Strategy at Generate Capital. Prior to joining

Catherine has 20 years of experience leading research and learning functions at mission-driven organizations; developing and implementing innovative and practical measurement strategies for impact investors, for service practitioners, and for government and philanthropic clients; and directing action-oriented research.
Prior to joining Social Finance, Catherine was Senior Vice President of Learning and Impact Management at BlueHub Capital, a national community development financial institution (CDFI). There, she spearheaded the development of the Impact Measurement and Management (IMM) function, and she led efforts to assess and increase the impact of BlueHub's investments. She also created tools that evaluated investments' potential to support racial equity, and she led field-building efforts to help other socially responsible investors develop effective IMM strategies.
Catherine also served as the Vice President of Learning and Analytics at the United Way of Mass Bay and as a senior research consultant at Abt Associates. Catherine overhauled United Way's systems for determining how to allocate funding to nonprofit organizations. Her efforts simplified the process, rewarded performance, and increased transparency and equity. At Abt, Catherine led evaluation and technical assistance projects focused on economically disadvantaged families and low-wage workers. Catherine also has five years of direct experience working in community-based organizations that support low-income children. As a young professional, she founded and ran a local chapter of Read to a Child.

Prior to Social Finance, Donnie worked as Director of Public Policy & Advocacy for E Pluribus Unum, where he was responsible for developing the organization's policy agenda and overseeing public policy research and partnerships. Before EPU, Donnie served as Director of State & Local Fiscal Engagement for The Urban Institute. He also has extensive experience working in state and local government agencies, including the North Carolina Legislature, along with stints at two University think tanks. Ed Brakeman joined Bain Capital in 1988 with an initial focus on private equity investments and became co-founder and co-head of Bain Capital's public equity investment business, Brookside Capital. He retired from his full-time responsibilities as a Managing Director in 2005. Today, he continues to participate in several firm initiatives on a part-time basis. Prior to joining Bain Capital, he worked at Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette in merchant banking. Mr. Brakeman is actively engaged with a number of philanthropic initiatives. Ed serves on the boards of RefugePoint and Social Finance, as well as the Finance Committees for Boston Children's Hospital and The Rashi School. He co-chairs the Combined Jewish Philanthropies Mergers & Acquisitions Task Force. He also serves on the board of United Airlines.
Ed earned a BS in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School in 1986 and an MBA from UCLA's Anderson School of Management in 1990.

Jake Edwards is a Vice President of Impact Investments at Social Finance, where he leads a portfolio of workforce development and post-secondary initiatives that use innovative financing models to increase access to effective programs for low-income and under-represented populations. Jess Kenerson is Director of Strategy at Social Finance. In this role, she supports organization-wide strategic planning and new business initiatives.
Prior to joining Social Finance, Jess worked in higher education at Bentley University, where she was the Chief of Staff and Director of Strategic Planning for the Division of Student Affairs. In her role, she was responsible for the development, implementation, and project management of divisional strategic efforts to deliver an innovative and transformative experience for undergraduate students. She led mission-critical divisional and institutional initiatives such as: facilitating the student experience strategic positioning process, managing the return-to-campus efforts during COVID-19, reevaluating the Bentley Core Values, driving the shift to a competency-based approach to co-curricular learning, and integrating equity and inclusion efforts into the day-to-day work of staff.
Since 2019, Jess has been a weekly volunteer for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, where she is a call taker, shift supervisor, and trainer. She continues to believe that people can make a difference and that organizations can change the world. Jess went to Boston College, where she received a BA in communications and an MA in higher education administration.

Previously, Marie worked as a Consultant in Deloitte's Strategy & Analytics practice, where she helped consumer-focused clients address address a variety of strategic and operational issues. She also led Deloitte's global pro-bono consulting program, serving nonprofit organizations in Ghana and Northern Ireland. Prior to Deloitte, Marie interned at the United Way of Metropolitan Chicago and Teatro Catalina, a youth empowerment organization in Nicaragua.

Rich Crowley is Director, Controller, at Social Finance. He is responsible for the day-to-day accounting, financial, investment, and operational management of Social Finance's wholly-owned impact investing subsidiaries, as well as the UP Fund, L.P.
Prior to joining Social Finance, Rich worked at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the Office of the Vice President for Finance and Technology Review. Rich started his career at Eaton Vance Management, focusing on financial accounting and regulatory reporting for its managed investment funds.
Rich holds a Master of Science in Accounting from the Sawyer School of Business at Suffolk University and a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Providence College.
