17 years ago, John Lyons started as a sole trader, providing top quality mobility solutions to the people of Cork city. There was an obvious need in the marketplace in 2005 for local, professional and reliable tradesmen who genuinely cared about customers. The business was primarily involved in level access bathroom renovations, easy access ramps, safety railings and stairlifts. John listened to the needs of his customers and put together a team of top quality trades people. In 2012, the company changed from a sole trader status to a limited company and A1 Upgrades Ltd was incorporated. In 2017, the company moved away from general mobility solutions to specialise solely on stairlifts. The trading name of the company was changed to A1 Upgrades Limited trading as Cork Stairlifts. In 2019, Cork Stairlifts achieved ISO 9001 certification, the first stairlift company in Ireland to do so.
