ALPHA OMEGA MUSIC STUDIO - Key Persons

Ken Polk

Ken started playing guitar at the age of 9. By the age of 13 he was in his first band, of many to follow, with a group of older high schoolers. He then went on to start teaching out of his house while in high school. At about that time he realized he also had a passion for the art of audio recording and started a small home recording studio. It was at this point that Ken knew his career was destined to be in the music field.

Music called to Matt at the very young age of 5 and his passion has never dissipated. He began with the violin, learning from the Suzuki Method. Studying in individual and group settings he was taught to read music but also to hear and feel the music. He began playing electric bass in junior high and double bass in high school. This is when his study and love for jazz and classical music began and became a lifelong pursuit. At UMass he formed the foundation of theoretical knowledge and discipline. After college Matt performed in the show band on Carnival Cruise Lines as well as a jazz trio on a cruise ship called the World, which literally traveled the world. In his late 20‘s he embarked on a musical journey by touring the country in an original American music act called the Ryan Montbleau Band. For a decade he played all the musical genres under the sun including Folk, Rock, Jazz, Soul, Bluegrass, Reggae, R & B and Blues. During this time he had the opportunity to perform with many world renowned musicians such as Melvin Sparks, Martin Sexton, Oteal Burbridge, Eric Krasno, Gallactic, and Trombone Shorty to name a few. While touring with Martin Sexton he played at Bonaroo, Jazz Fest in New Orleans, and opened up multiple shows for Dave Matthews.
