Alisa Hanson, Ed.D. is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the School of Special Education, School Psychology, and Early Childhood Studies and the program coordinator for Teach Well. Teach Well is an advanced online degree in special education that prepares teachers to work with students with disabilities in inclusive settings. Currently, Dr. Hanson teaches graduate courses in the Teach Well and Dyslexia Graduate Certificate programs and supervises preservice teachers during their final internship experience. Before entering higher education, Dr. Hanson spent 18 years as a P-12 special education teacher serving students and families in various settings.
Dr. Hanson's professional focus is on teacher education, mentoring, literacy development, and reading instruction and remediation. She has provided local professional development to practitioners and presented at regional and national conferences.

Elayne Colón is a Clinical Professor in the School of Special Education, School Psychology, and Early Childhood Studies and serves as the Director of Assessment and Accreditation for the University of Florida's College of Education. With a background in school psychology, her scholarly interests include assessing quality educator preparation, measuring the impact of candidates and completers on P-12 student learning, and examining issues related to accountability and accreditation in higher education.

Maureen Conroy, PhD is the Anita Zucker Endowed Professor, Co-Director of the Anita Zucker Center of Excellence in Early Childhood Studies, and a professor of special education and early childhood studies in the School of Special Education, School Psychology, and Early Childhood Studies at UF. She is also an affiliate faculty member of the UF Institute for Child Health Policy. Dr. Conroy is recognized for her research focused on developing, validating and evaluating interventions for young children with social and behavioral challenges. Prior to her appointment at the University of Florida in 2010, Dr. Conroy was a professor of special education and psychiatry at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Dr. Conroy began her career as a teacher working with young children with or at risk for disabilities and their families. Over the course of her career, she has been an early childhood teacher serving young children in inclusive programs; an early interventionist working with caregivers to support their infants and toddlers; a director of a local early intervention program; a technical assistance provider to Head Start and local education agencies serving young children with or at risk for disabilities; and a higher education faculty member and administrator.
Dr. Conroy's research focuses on the promotion of evidence-based programs and practices to support young children's development and learning with an emphasis on social-emotional development. She has led or co-led a number of externally funded projects with much of this support coming from highly competitive federal funding sources such as the Institute of Education Sciences and National Institutes of Health. Currently, she is leading several federally funded grants investigating the efficacy and sustainability of a classroom-based intervention model, BEST in CLASS, designed for use by early childhood practitioners working with young children with social-emotional and behavioral learning difficulties and their families.
Dr. Conroy has an extensive publication record in the field of early childhood studies and early intervention with over 100 refereed articles, 20 book chapters, and three books. She has received numerous awards for her contributions to the field and is the former co-editor of Behavioral Disorders. Dr. Conroy is a regular presenter at international and national conferences on topics related to early childhood studies and early intervention and has mentored numerous doctoral students throughout her career in higher education.

Mary Brownell, Ph.D., is a Professor of Special Education at the University of Florida and Director of the Collaboration for Effective Educator Development, Accountability and Reform (CEEDAR Center), an OSEP funded project designed to improve the preparation of teachers and leaders working with students with disabilities. Dr. Brownell has secured multiple grants (totaling over 42 million dollars) from the U.S. Department of Education (U.S. DOE), Office of Special Education Programs and Institute for Education Sciences to support research and technical assistance aimed at improving teaching quality for students with disabilities. Specifically, she has studied issues related to teacher education, teacher assessment, professional development, and teacher attrition. Dr. Brownell's research efforts have culminated in numerous refereed publications, book chapters, books, and presentations. She and her colleagues edited the first Handbook of Research on Special Education Teacher Preparation, and she recently authored a chapter for the prestigious Handbook for Research on Teaching, published by the American Educational Research Association. She has been recognized nationally for her leadership and research, winning the TED Pearson Award for Excellence in Teacher Education, the Division for Research Hallahan and Kauffman Distinguished Researcher Award, and the David Imig Teacher Achievement Award for lifetime achievement in teacher education. Dr. Brownell is also a devoted teacher and doctoral student mentor. She has received two awards for her undergraduate teaching and a university wide award for mentoring doctoral students. For relaxation, Dr. Brownell enjoys dancing, weight lifting, hiking, long walks on the beach, and time with family.
