Aaron Derbyshire

Job Titles:
  • Electronic Engineer
Aaron is an Electronic Engineer who specialises in digital systems and signal & image processing. He attained his masters of engineering degree from the University of Central Lancashire where he developed stabilisation techniques for medical imaging whilst engaging in STEM ambassador duties. Aaron has since designed sensors and interfaces with application in ATEX environments for the gas and water utilities.

Andrew Howes - COO

Andrew graduated from Edinburgh University as a Mechanical Engineer and has spent the majority of his career to date working with technology and energy companies. In these sectors, Andrew has raised over £30m for clients in an advisory capacity and over £10m for other projects. Andrew, Mike and Tim have developed a number of successful innovations together. Andrew will lead the day-to-day product development, liaison with operational partners and administration of the business.

Andy Baker

Andy has over 30 years experience in a variety of technology and consumer-facing businesses. He has a successful record of growing companies by turning concepts into effective business models, developing sales and marketing teams, managing high-level client relationships, sourcing new revenue opportunities and improving operational performance.

Chris Wray

Chris is a business consultant with 35 years strategic, financial, information technology and operational consulting experience (including 20 years as a partner) across a variety of service delivery, account management and practice management roles within Arthur Andersen, Accenture, Price Waterhouse, Deloitte and Kemp Little LLP. As well as broader strategic role within the HP1T group, Chris will lead the Consulting subsidiary using his specialist mix of consulting, IT, legal and business design skills to maximise commercial opportunities and to oversee compliance with all relevant aspects of data privacy legislation. The commercial opportunities are likely to include a mix of strategic consulting, service delivery and data analytics offerings.

Dr Malcolm Russell

Malcolm has been practicing pre-hospital immediate care for over 15 years. He has served most of his career as a doctor in the British Army including some of the UK's most elite military units. He was central in the development of concepts of combat casualty care and held the prestigious post of Senior Lecturer in Pre-hospital Emergency Medicine at the UK Royal Centre for Defence Medicine. Malcolm is the Royal College of General Practitioners' representative on the Curriculum Training and Assessment Sub-committee of the Intercollegiate Board for Training in Pre-hospital Emergency Medicine and was recently appointed Medical Incident Offcer for West Midlands Ambulance service NHS Trust (one of five doctors on-call to provide a Medical Incident Offcer role to Major Incidents).

Dr. Tom Connor

Tom is a biomedical and mechanical engineer and Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellow. He holds two undergraduate degrees and one Masters degree in biomedical and mechanical engineering from Trinity College Dublin in addition to his PhD. As part of the HEADS project (Head protection: a European network for Advanced Designs in Safety) and in conjunction with University College Dublin School of Mechanical & Materials Engineering and Charles Owen, Tom's work aims to improve the understanding of head impact injury and to design new, evidence based helmet standard test methods.

Duncan Valentine

Duncan has a long history of senior executive roles in international engineering and technology businesses. He joined the Ministry of Defence (MoD) in 2000 and was a member of the senior management team tasked with the privatisation of MoD Laboratories, leading to the creation of QinetiQ plc, the largest independent Research and Development organisation in Europe that floated successfully in 2006. He served on QinetiQ Group's Operational Board and as Group Managing Director, Transport Systems. He is Managing Partner at Almax Partners LLP a boutique business advisory company focused on high tech and renewable energy with investments in large scale biogas and other renewable energy generation. He is also a main Board director of the Renewable Energy Association.

Max Valentine

Max has 15 years' experience in Financial Services and Energy. Max trained as an M&A analyst at Baird Inc. and has worked in the internal corporate finance teams at Willis Insurance and American Express focusing on business transformation initiatives and investment opportunities. Max has also worked as a strategy consultant at a RBS, Nationwide, Barclaycard and Cinven. Recently, Max has advised technology and energy clients at all stages of development on project structuring, corporate strategy and finance through Almax Partners LLP.

Mike Howes - CEO

Mike has been involved in a number of innovative start-ups, which have taken him from the world of wine retail, via online recruitment services to the baby sector. Mike has a proven track record of creating disruptive ideas, raising investment and scaling ideas into innovative businesses in a number of geographies. Mike has recently set up global licensing deals for another business and will be primarily responsible for the broad product and business development strategies and the commercialisation partnerships.

Nigel Howes - Chairman

Nigel spent most of his career in professional services including 20 years as a senior partner with Arthur Andersen and Deloitte. Since retiring from practice 15 years ago he has been an executive and non-executive director of a number of public and private companies from technology start-ups to established corporates, including 5 years as finance and corporate development director at fully-listed marketing services group Communisis plc. He is also a founder, controlling shareholder and non-executive Chairman of Acceleris Marketing Communications, a multiple award-winning, creative communications agency.

Rebecca Halford-Harrison

Rebecca is an acknowledged leader in her field as a patent and IP litigator and regulatory specialist at Keystone Law. She has over 20 years experience, 10 as a partner, working as a solicitor at City firms Simmons & Simmons, Bird & Bird, S.J. Berwin, K&L Gates and Kemp Little. She specialises in leveraging value from IP internationally (especially EU/US) whether patents, designs, trade marks or copyright. She also specialises in EU regulatory issues, particularly for fast moving consumer goods, food and beverage, pharma, medical devices and defence applications with the Ministry of Defence. She is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys, a Member of the International Trademark Association and a Member of The Royal Society of Chemistry.

Tim Moor - CTO

Job Titles:

Tim studied product design at Northumbria University prior to working for the UK Government, researching and designing new high performance gas masks for the military. All of Tim's inventions are either in production or clinical trial stage and span across fields from consumer goods to medical devices. He has over 70 patents to his name and his ideas have attracted significant investment. Tim will be responsible for the design and production side of HP1T as well as advising on the various patent positions and developments.
