The Transnational Petroleum Law Institute is an academic initiative launched in 2012 in the framework of the Groupe de Beaune to study the impact of globalization in the law of transnational petroleum transactions and disputes and to propose a theoretical framework adapted to the needs of oil and gas industry of the XXIst century. The Institute was registered in Paris on August 2012, as an association under the French Law of Associations of 1901... The main purpose of the Institute is to lessen the existent gap between traditional legal education and practice and the new regulatory challenges of the oil and gas industry, thus reducing the risks and costs associated with the application of old solutions to new situations. We believe that the legal paradigms of the XXth century (international/multinational legal theories, legal state positivism and conflicts of law) are inadequate to offer effective solutions to the petroleum industry in the global environment of the XXIst century which..
