Iain Muir, the founder of Petro Barrier Systems Inc., graduated with honors from the chemistry program at Edinburgh University in Edinburgh, UK in 1956. He has over 50 years of industry experience and has worked as an R&D Director, Managing Director and consultant for numerous firms including the Shaw Pipe Protection Company, Imperial Chemicals Industry (ICI) and Akzo Plastics. However, he is most known for inventing "Enviroshake"; an award winning roofing product, which is created from scrap plastics, waste cellulosic fibres and crumb rubber. Before selling the company in 2001, he had generated millions of dollars in revenue licensing his IP in the building industry. The company is now making over 6 million dollars in revenue annually. Iain Muir, president and founder of Petro Barrier Systems Inc. had spent a number of years as a consultant, working for a large American firm in the oil spill containment field. After discovering that the technology being used by this company to filter and contain oil spills had some deficiencies, Muir spent 2 years developing the patented MLM technology; a mixture of absorbent chemicals that react with and remove hydrocarbon oils from water.

Imtehaze Heerah graduated with his master's degree in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering from the University of Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 2002, specializing in robotics & automation. He also obtained an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Mauritius, Mauritius in 1999. He has been a practicing engineer in Canada for the last 12 years, having worked as a design engineer for several companies and is currently a faculty member at Camosun College in Victoria, BC. He has also published many technical papers and has contributed to a manufacturing text book.

Will Spaulding

Will Spaulding graduated with his master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada in 1986, specializing in heat transfer and fluids and with his undergraduate engineering degree in 1985. He is also a Mechanical Engineering Technologist, having graduated in 1980 from Ryerson Polytechnic Institute in Toronto, Canada. He has been a practicing engineer in Canada for over 30 years, having worked as a researcher, design engineer, project manager and is currently a faculty member at Camosun College in Victoria, BC.
