Ann has taught at SIS since 2017. She was born and raised in Dalarna, Sweden, but lived in the U.S. for many years. She had a career in marketing at LVMH that left her feeling somewhat empty: volunteering at Nord Anglia International school in NYC's East Village led to an Early Years' teaching position there and an enrollment at NYC's Bank Street School of Education. Her start at SIS, after moving back to Sweden with her family, similarly began through volunteering.
Ann currently teaches fifth grade but has had many other roles at SIS over the years, including teaching Swedish and assisting in several other grades.
Ann holds a B.A. in International Relations from the University of Pennsylvania, an M.A. in International Affairs from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs, and an IB Certificate in Teaching and Learning from the University of Bath in the U.K.
Anna Söderström was introduced to the IBO and IB schools in 2006 when she first started to teach Swedish in all three programmes in SIS. She fell in love with the IB philosophy, her international students, and colleagues, and is still excited every day to come to the heart of the community and teach the language of the host country. Anna has completed her education in Sweden and Germany and earned her MA in Secondary Education from Karlstad University. She has worked in IB schools in Denmark and Sweden and lives on Lidingö with her family. Her family is almost as multicultural as her work.
Except for teaching Swedish, German, and English, Anna has mainly acted as IB coordinator for MYP in the IB schools where she has worked. She truly enjoys collaboration with colleagues and parents in the best interest of the students. Moreover, pre-covid times, Anna lead IB visiting teams and performed evaluation and authorisation visits in the region. In her free time, she enjoys the Swedish nature, reads, and exercises, but most important is time with family and friends.

Anneli knew she loved the arts but didn't realise she would love teaching. She got employed as a dance and drama teacher at Stantonbury Campus, one of the largest secondary schools in England. This prepared her for a career in teaching which she has never looked back from.
Anneli is usually seen running between campuses, pulling her orange trolley filled with props and costumes to the various events she is often directing. When not pouring her love of theatre and dance on and off campus, Anneli is also coordinator of Erasmus+ with Andrew Ioannou and together they run the cross-cultural projects at SIS with partner schools around Europe.
