Seven years on and although he knew the working of a computer network inside out, his own world was turned upside down as he was sold totally the wrong mortgage product. Feeling he could do better himself, he changed direction with his career. After gaining a Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice, awarded by The London Institute of Banking & Finance he made his first step into financial services spending three years as a consultant for a national estate agent working in a busy city centre branch, where he gained a good understanding of the industry. He was then approached by a local firm of independent mortgage brokers, where he spent the next 11 years. Steve continued to learn and increase his knowledge of an ever-changing industry. As time passed, he realised that he'd always wanted to work for himself so, with his friend and colleague James Akers, they set up Akers Pritchett and they are both very excited about the future. Steve loves spending time with his wife Rebecca and his 11-year-old son. He's a real people person and enjoys socialising and keeping fit. Born and raised in Scarborough, Vicki swapped the sea air and sound of the waves for a new life in her adopted home of Nottingham. She has a good understanding of the legal side of things, having worked for a local firm of solicitors for six years in the secretarial department. She then forged a new career in the financial world in 2017 when she joined a local mortgage brokers practice. This taught her many of the skills she uses on a daily basis here at Akers Pritchett. She loves dealing face to face with clients and helping them achieve their property dreams. Vicki felt right at home from day one here and the professional yet warm and friendly atmosphere within the office is one of the reasons she feels clients are happy to recommend Akers Pritchett to their friends and colleagues. She enjoys working for Akers Pritchett because it's a small team and they all get on well. Flexible, understanding and great at their job is how Vicki describes the whole team.
