HEALTH ENTERPRISE EAST - Key Persons
Anne has overall responsibility for the management and performance of Health Tech Enterprise (HTE). Her role includes setting the strategic vision for the company, providing leadership to the team, developing the business plan and agreeing budgets. Anne has been actively involved in intellectual property management and commercialisation of life sciences technologies for over 25 years.
In addition to leading the HTE team, she is also Chair of Ablatus, a women's health company, and co-founded Medovate, a medical device development company, in 2017.
Karen is an experienced IP and commercialisation professional having over 15 years' experience of leading the identification, evaluation, protection, development, and commercialisation of innovations developed by research scientists and clinicians. She has identified licensing partners and negotiated numerous licensing agreements for a diverse range of technologies including therapeutics, medical devices and digital health products.
Her career encompasses roles within technology transfer offices and most recently with a UK based biotech company working in the gene therapy field, where her responsibilities included negotiating licensing and collaborative agreements including managing the term sheet creation process as well assisting with the identification of licensing and partnerships needs and opportunities. Karen also developed a company-wide data room and was involved in responding to investor due diligence questions in connection with Series C and IPO investments.
Karen holds a PhD in Analytical Chemistry and a BSc in Biochemistry from the University of Manchester and joined HTE in 2021.

Veena is an Innovation Manager at HTE, working with clinical innovators to protect, develop and commercialise their ideas. She has significant experience in technology assessments, freedom to operate searches and market research.
Prior to joining HTE, Veena worked as a Scientist in Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCGs) for ten years with research activities mainly focused on developing anti-microbial solutions for many personal care and consumer health care products. She generated patents and was involved in finding business opportunities via open innovation projects with universities.
Veena also has experience in innovation consultancy, providing technology advisory services to a wide range of multinational clients across healthcare and consumer care sectors.
Veena holds a PhD in Biochemistry from University of Cambridge and joined HTE in 2021.

Evelyne is a Health Economist and Strategy Consultant with over 15-year' experience in the Healthcare Consulting Industry. Evelyne builds interactive health economics models, enabling market access through understanding value proposition, economic impact and pricing strategies. She can also advise on data collection during trials and deployment, systematic literature reviews and NICE HTA submissions and evidence appraisal.

Penny joined Health Tech Enterprise in 2016 as the Administration Manager and is responsible for a variety of functions including the day-to-day financial administration, maintain the royalty reporting systems and managing the company Project Management database ensuring all new projects, agreements, patents, invoices and payments are recorded.
