Dr. Wissa has been practicing optometry in Ontario since 2010. She first earned her Master's degree in 1995 from Ain Shams University in Cairo, where her studies focused on research and assessment of Retinopathy of Prematurity. She then went on to become accredited through the International Council of Ophthalmology in 2001 and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK in 2003.
She and her family then decided to make Canada their home, and once in Ontario, Dr. Wissa obtained her license as a full-scope optometrist through the College of Optometrists of Ontario in 2010. Though she began her career in Canada as an associate at several optometry clinics in the Kitchener and St. Catharine's Niagara regions, she soon decided it was time to open her own practice. She opened her first practice in the Brampton Peel region. Arc Eye Care is her second practice.
While Dr. Wissa enjoys all aspects of optometry, she is particularly interested in ocular health and medical conditions that affect the eye, a passion she first cultivated when she was in medical school in Cairo.
In addition to being an optometrist, Dr. Wissa is also a published author. Her latest paper was published in the January 2012 issue of the Clinical Ophthalmology Journal. Dr. Wissa is an active member of both the Ontario Association of Optometrists and the Canadian Association of Optometrists.
Dr. Wissa likes to care for patients of all ages and enjoys doing eye exams to kids . She got recently mentioned in an article published in Prism Magazine.
