NATIONAL CORD BLOOD INITIATIVE

The National Cord Blood Initiative is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization based in Denver, Colorado dedicated to increasing the supply and utilization of stem cells from umbilical cord blood for treatment of various diseases like cancer and sickle cell anemia. Our mission is to increase the availability of cord blood as an option for research and relevant medical treatments. We strive to help deliver cures for a variety of diseases within diverse populations... The National Cord Blood Initiative is launching a campaign of education and awareness. Currently, cord blood is considered medical waste and disposed of accordingly - in a trash can. It is only saved and stored if the birth mother decides to store the cord blood for her own family in a private cord blood bank or donate it to a public cord blood bank.
