(3) How to value the desirability of alternative outcomes: (Lempert et al. 2003) are lacking and the extended use of technological advancements such as machine learning and artificial intelligence in fisheries management is still immature. Externalities to fisheries are often not considered in management because they are difficult to measure or because the tools to do so are not available. Addressing the trade-offs among the wide range of issues involved in ecosystem-based fisheries management, such as ecological principles, legal mandates, climate change and economic interests (Hart & Fay 2020) will hopefully shift towards the perception that ecocentric fisheries management, albeit demanding and challenging, is necessary and feasible option... The EcoScope Project aims to promote effective and efficient, ecosystem-based approach to fisheries management.
