Amber Notaro

Amber Notaro is a research technician for the Center for Computational and Genomic Medicine at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. She received her B.S in Biology from Stockton University in 2014 and her M.S. in Biology from Adelphi University in 2018. Previously, she worked as a genetic technician for The KwiƔht Center for the Historical Ecology of the Salish Sea. She is currently interested in how RNA modification can be used to help treat autoimmune diseases.

Asanti Mergiya

Asanti Mergiya is an undergraduate student at the University of Pennsylvania. She is in the Life Sciences & Management (LSM) Program studying Biology in the College of Arts & Sciences as well as Health Care Management and Policy at Wharton. She is interested in translational research in oncology and enhancing her understanding of cancer therapy.

Dr. Lan Lin

Dr. Lan Lin is an Assistant Professor in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Children's Hospital (CHOP) of Philadelphia and Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania (UPenn). Dr. Lin has an interdisciplinary training and research background in genomics, transcriptomics, RNA biology, molecular and evolutionary genetics. She received her B.S. degree from Peking University (PKU) in China (2001). She conducted her doctoral research in cellular and molecular biology with Dr. Tomas Ganz in the Department of Cellular and Molecular Pathology at UCLA (2001-2007). For her postdoctoral training, Dr. Lin worked with Dr. Beverly Davidson and Dr. Yi Xing at the University of Iowa, where she investigated the regulation and functional impact of mRNA isoform expression using genomic technologies (2007-2012). From 2013 to 2018, Dr. Lin worked as an Associate Researcher in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics and led an independent research program in RNA genomics. Dr. Lin's current research interest is to study RNA epitranscriptomics in human diseases including cancer.

Feng Wang

Feng Wang is a Postdoctoral Fellow in Lin lab. He received his B.E. in Bio-engineering from Hubei University (2010) and his Ph.D. in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology from Shanghai Institute of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (2016). His research interests involve the use of cutting-edge sequencing technology to better understand transcriptome, translatome, and proteome in eukaryotic cells; as well as applications of novel experimental biology tools and models to study RNA mis-splicing and interrogate gene function in human disease and therapy.

Joseph (Joey) Park

Joseph (Joey) Park is a research technician at the Center for Computational and Genomic Medicine. He received his BS in Molecular and Cellular Biology at UC San Diego (UCSD) in 2022. Joey previously worked at the UCSD School of Medicine and the Salk Institute for the Biological Sciences, where he focused on mouse models of multiple systems including type II diabetes and Alzheimer's disease. He is currently interested in optimizing diagnostic medicine and developing tools for transcriptomics research.

Kate Kadash

Kate Kadash is the Director of Research Operations for the Xing and Lin labs. She holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University (2000) and a Ph.D. in Bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania (2005). She completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Biochemistry and Biophysics at the Perelman School of Medicine of the University of Pennsylvania (2008). Since 2007, she has worked as a professional scientific writer, contributing to thousands of NIH grants and manuscripts. In addition to providing scientific writing support for the Xing and Lin labs, Kate interfaces with collaborators, manages research resources, oversees the progress and reporting of scientific projects, and provides mentoring to students.

Matthew (Matt) Sullenberger

Matthew (Matt) Sullenberger is a research specialist at the Center for Computational and Genomic Medicine. He received his Ph.D. in Plant Biology at Penn State University in 2016 studying tomato breeding and genetics. Matt previously worked at Syracuse University, where he focused on epigenetics in nematode models. He is currently working on Nanopore long read sequencing in diseased human cell lines.

Nicole DeBruyne

Nicole DeBruyne is a 1st year Genetics and Epigenetics PhD student in the Cell and Molecular Biology program at the University of Pennsylvania. She received her B.S. in Biology and B.A. in Mathematics from the University of North Carolina in 2020. She previously worked as a research technician at the North Carolina State University School of Veterinary Medicine, where she studied the genetic basis of hereditary cardiac and neurological diseases in cats and dogs. Her current interests involve utilizing various sequencing technologies and cell-based assays to understand the genetics of human disease.

Samantha Gaerlan

Samantha Gaerlan is the Lin Lab Manager. She earned her MS in Biomedicine and Law from Drexel University in 2021. She received her BS in Biological Sciences from the University of California at Merced in 2016. As an undergraduate, she researched organometallic and organocatalytic reactions. She is currently interested in learning more about A to I editing and m6A.

Samir Adhikari

Samir Adhikari is a Postdoctoral Fellow in Lin lab. He received his M.S. in Molecular Life Sciences from Stockholm University and his Ph.D. in Genomics from Beijing Institute of Genomics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. His research focuses on understanding the biological significance of RNA modifications and how they affect processing of various classes of RNA.

Zelin Liu

Zelin Liu is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Center for Computational and Genomic Medicine at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. He received his BS in Medical Experimental Technology (2017) and PhD in Systems Biomedicine (2022) from Peking University Health Science Center. He is interested in quantitative genomics, non-coding RNA, and post-transcriptional regulation. His current research focuses on developing novel long-read sequencing approaches for full-length transcriptome analysis.
