Sophia Y. Minaya has lived in Newburgh for more than 20 years, aware of the barriers between immigrants and the North American labor market, she worked in various jobs, which gave her the necessary experience to face various challenges. With more than 15 years of experience in the accounting arena as a personal tax preparer in the city of Newburgh, Sophia has dedicated herself to helping and supporting individuals and businesses in the Latino community. Single mother and entrepreneur, she is an example for the Newburgh community, as her strength and courage stand out in her day-to-day life. Goal oriented and teamwork oriented, productive in high pressure work, punctual, proactive in problem solving and decision making. With her expertise and knowledge, she founded Mi Casa Income Tax Center. While primarily serving the community with tax preparation for individuals and businesses, Sophia quickly identified the need for additional services to meet the need of its clients.
