OLD GROWTH TREE SERVICES - Key Persons

A native of New Jersey, Matty's lifelong passion for the outdoors brought him to Colorado to study ski area operations. An avid mountain biker and snowboarder, the magnificent trees that surrounded him during all of his outdoor pursuits piqued his interest and ultimately led to a career in arboriculture where he met his mentor, colleague, and friend, Mike Earl. Today, the two are partners in Old Growth Tree Service, each bringing their own set of skills and expertise that help keep our valley's landscapes healthy and beautiful. Matty is primarily responsible for on the ground operations at Old Growth, but can often be found up high in a bucket truck or dangling from a crane with a chainsaw performing technical tree work.

Mike's passion for trees started in high school. While others studied chemistry and biology, Mike immersed himself in the science of agriculture and began cultivating an old-world work ethic that is at the core of Old Growth Tree Services. Since arriving in Vail fifteen years ago, he has worked in all aspects of the local landcare and arboriculture industry. Though Mike often works on site, he is primarily responsible for sales and customer service at Old Growth. His commitment to his clients goes well beyond the traditional bounds of a 9-5 work week and don't be surprised if you see him walking a property at dusk or dawn, or if he answers the phone at 3pm on a Sunday.
