SOUTHEAST COMMUNITY HEALTH SYSTEMS

The Southeast Community Health Systems is a 501(c)(3) non-profit and Federally Qualified Health Center funded in part through a grant from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services and generous community support. SCHS is a Health Center Program grantee under 42 U.S.C. 254b, and a deemed Public Health Service employee under 42 U.S.C. 233(g)-(n)... As the organization began to grow and provide health care services in other parishes, its name was changed to Southeast Community Health Systems (SCHS). SCHS, a Federally Qualified Health Center, receives grant funding from the Health Resources and Services Administration Bureau of Primary Health Care, under the Health Center Program, as authorized by Section 330 of the Public Health Service Act. What began as St. Helena Rural Health Clinic in 1992 with one location now provides services in four parishes (East Baton Rouge, Livingston, St. Helena, and Tangipahoa) with 7 service locations, 20 school-based sites, and a mobile medical unit.
