Adrian Lance

Adrian has a background in Finance across a range of organisations, sectors and countries. He is a qualified accountant with 20 years of experience, having previously worked for the EU, Save the Children and Barnardo's but mainly in the private sector, and recently in Telecommunications. Outside of work, Adrian is the Treasurer for Global Justice Now and, in his spare time, loves spending time with his family, cycling and playing/watching sport.

Anna Kingsley-Nyinah

Anna joined the Foundation in September 2018 from the University of the Arts London, where she had worked for 10 years as an internal HR Consultant and then as an HR Business Partner. Before that, she worked for 14 years with the London Borough of Brent in various HR and administrative roles. Her experience in HR over the years has heightened her awareness of the connections between staff wellbeing and organisational efficiency. Anna is a trustee and secretary to the council for a Methodist church in Wembley. She enjoys active involvement in church and community activities, especially supporting children and young people. She cares deeply about family and maintains close links with Ghana, where she was raised. In her free time, she enjoys reading, yoga and going to the cinema.

Dr Antonis Kousoulis

Dr Antonis Kousoulis is leading the public mental health research, programmes and policy functions at the Mental Health Foundation across England and Wales. Previously, he was Deputy Director for the development team at the data research centre of the Department of Health and has held various academic appointments internationally, including with University College London, Harvard School of Public Health, and Oxford University. Antonis qualified in medicine at the University of Athens, Greece, and holds postgraduate specialist degrees in public health from Imperial College London and the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. He has published, peer-reviewed and presented extensively, and held editorial appointments for multiple publications, including The Lancet, and various visiting teaching appointments at Oxford University and the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. When not at work, Antonis is an avid world traveller and photographer.

Lee Knifton

Lee Knifton leads the policy, research, programmes and external relations teams. He is responsible for developing the strategic role of the Foundation in Scotland whilst overseeing the operational delivery of our programmes. Lee spent four years as the Associate Head of The Foundation. Before this, he has considerable experience working in the NHS, University and Third Sector in mental health, addictions, prisons and justice fields. More broadly, Lee has been involved in leading local and international health policy initiatives and is currently collaborating with the World Health Organisation, New York and Yale Universities on health equity. He Co-Directs The Centre for Health Policy within Strathclyde University International Public Policy Institute; is Associate Editor of the Journal of Public Mental Health; and Co-Editor of the book Public Mental Health: Global Perspectives.

Mark Rowland - CEO

Mark was appointed the Mental Health Foundation's Chief Executive in October 2018. Before that, Mark worked for nearly 20 years in international development, living and working in Asia and Africa. He has an MBA from the Open University. He also brings a lived experience of being bereaved by suicide. Mark speaks and writes widely on a range of mental health topics. He is focused on building a vibrant organisation and delivering the Foundation's new strategy to find and address the causes of poor mental health and ensuring that people across the UK can live mentally healthier lives. Mark is a Non-Executive Director of the Foundation's subsidiary, Mental Health at Work, is a co-chair of the Mental Health and Smoking Partnership, sits on the Government's National Suicide Prevention Strategy Advisory Group and the Advisory Group for the Royal College of Psychiatry's Public Mental Health Implementation Centre. Mark was awarded the President's Medal by the Royal College of Psychiatry in June 2022 in recognition of the Foundation's work, especially during the pandemic. He was previously a trustee and Chair of Partners Relief and Development UK. He is married with a teenage son and loves to run.
