生まれ変わるための宿 A HOTEL DESIGNED FOR REBIRTH. moksaは、日本仏教の母山とも称される 比叡山の麓の"八瀬"という場所にあります。 ここには、古くは壬申の乱で背中に矢傷を負った 大海人皇子の傷を癒すために 村人が献上した"八瀬の窯風呂"という 日本最古の蒸湯場があり、それ以降、 心身を浄める場所として、 貴族や武士たちに愛されてきました。 「moksa」とは、梵語で"解脱"や"解放"を意味する言葉です。 この八瀬という場所で、 現代の暮らしに疲れた身と心を清め 生まれ変わるような体験をしていただきたいという思いが、 この名に込められています。 清流高野川の水を用いた蒸し風呂や、 "気"を巡らせる様々な作法でのお茶に、 大原の野菜や野草を用いた薪火レストラン。 八瀬という土地の力を取り込み、「再生」を味わう時間を、 どうぞお過ごしください。 moksa is located in the village of Yase at the foot of Mt. Hiei, one of the two sacred mountains that gave birth to Japanese Buddhism. Yase is home to Japan's oldest steam-bath, created 1,350 years ago by the local villagers to heal an arrow wound suffered in the Jinshin War by Prince Oami (later to become the revered Emperor Tenmu.).
