REBEKAHS

The Rebekahs were formed in 1851 as the first female auxiliary within a fraternal order ever! The Rebekahs are called to live peaceably, do good unto all, and especially to obey the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you wish done unto you". There are 9 lodges in Virginia... Our degrees are ever so important in their teachings about life, friendship, love, and truth. We have a unique call and responsibility to care for and love another, not only our lodge brothers and sisters, but our community and strangers too... The Odd Fellows began their journey in Virginia on May 4th, 1833 with the establishment of Virginia Lodge #1 in Harpers Ferry, Virginia. At that time there was not a Grand Lodge of Virginia yet, so this lodge was under the jurisdiction of the Grand Lodge of the United States (now referred to as the Sovereign Grand Lodge) for the first few years.On May 17th, 1837, the Grand Lodge of Virginia was formally established and took jurisdiction over all lodges within Virginia.
