ISC is a registered 501c(3) non-profit organization recognized by the Internal Revenue Service and duly incorporated in the state of California. It was formerly organized with an NSF I/UCRC planning grant among three UC campuses (UCI, UCLA and UCSD; participating faculty) to leverage the strengths of industry, academia and government for advancing Semantic Computing technologies. In 2017, Robotic Intelligence is added as an additional theme... Semantic Computing (SC) is Computing based on Semantics ("meaning", "context", "intention"). It addresses all types of resources including data, document, tool, device, etc. The Institute for Semantic Computing (ISC) is established with one mission - to transform industry use cases into fundamental theories.
