I am the director of the legal-ai research group at Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nürnberg. My research focuses on Intellectual Property and Data Protection law. Since 2020, I work as an independent consultant for start-ups, NGOs, and small enterprises. Prior to that, I helped to build a multi-billion dollar start-up and developed their data protection strategy... Law is complex. On one hand, a jungle of regulations often deters people from pursuing their ideas. Founding a start-up or a non-profit sounds risky in light of the high fines associated with non-compliance. On the other hand, established businesses use this opaqueness to hinder consumers from exercising their rights.
