Charles Miller

Job Titles:
  • BHT & Sober Living Supervisor
Behavioral health technicians (BHT) are the staff "on the floor" that clients interact with on a daily basis. This means that Charles plays an integral role at OARC with a high level of client-contact. Being in recovery himself and an alumnus of OARC, Charles has a personal passion for helping clients and giving them hope for their own recovery journey. From detox through sober living, Charles helps ensure clients' needs are being met while setting an example of OARC values for his team. Many of our clients who continue through with our IOP program after residential treatment choose to live in our structured sober living homes. In a sober living home, clients have much more freedom to come and go as they please, all while continuing a level of structure, accountability, and peer support. With the help of other house managers, Charles helps implement and maintain our sober living program. An Ohio native, Charles also has an associates degree in Business Management from Miami University.

Joshua Swearingen, more commonly known as "H-Josh", is the Program Director at Ohio Addiction Recovery Center. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology & Sociology from Otterbein University, a Master's in Social Work from The Ohio State University, and a LISW-S certification. Starting initially as a consultant for OARC, she became our full-time Clinical Director in 2019. Karen was in retirement when she started consulting for OARC. When asked why she decided to accept the full-time role, Karen says "Let me say this: I came out of retirement to work for OARC. The team of clinicians is among the most unique I have ever worked with. Their drive, personal integrity, teamwork, and dedication to the client make it a really enjoyable place to work. Many of our clinicians also have personal experience with recovery and I think that's what makes our program special."
