Alesha Washington is Seattle Foundation President and CEO
On May 11, 2022, Alesha Washington began her tenure as President and CEO of the Seattle Foundation. She most recently served as the program director for Vibrant Neighborhoods and Inclusive Economy at The George Gund Foundation based in Cleveland, Ohio. During her time at the Gund Foundation, Alesha led the collaborative efforts of the senior program team to strengthen democracy building and civic engagement strategies statewide. She also directed grantmaking strategies to bolster community revitalization, economic growth, and resident leadership.
Prior to her role with the Gund Foundation, Alesha was the Vice President of Government Advocacy for the Greater Cleveland Partnership, one of the largest chambers of commerce in the country. In her role, she served as the lead advocate on local, state, and federal policy issues impacting the Northeast Ohio business community and economic development efforts.
Alesha has also held senior government relations roles with Cleveland Neighborhood Progress and the Centers for Families and Children. Among her civic endeavors, Alesha served on the boards of the Cleveland Public Library and the Center for Community Solutions. She is currently a member of the Policy Advisory Committee for the W.E. Upjohn Institute and a member of the Brookings Metro Leadership Council. Alesha is a 2017 Crain's Cleveland Business "40 Under 40" honoree and 2015 American Marshall Fellow of the German Marshall Fund of the United States.
Alesha received her undergraduate degree from Oberlin College and her Masters of Nonprofit Management from Case Western Reserve University.

Amy Carter is Director of Community Engagement at the Gates Foundation
Amy is the Director of Community Engagement at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, where she and her team support organizations in the Seattle region aligned with the priorities and interests of the Gates family and Foundation, striving to ensure the Gates Foundation shows up as a "good neighbor" in its hometown. Amy's work at the Gates Foundation also includes management of the personal giving of the Gates family. During her 22 years at the Gates Foundation, she also worked in the Global Health Program and as Special Program Officer to the CEO.
Amy earned a Master's in Public Health from Columbia University and a B.A. in International Relations from Mount Holyoke College. Born in Jamaica, raised in Chicago, and now a resident of Seattle for over 20 years, Donna Moodie is well acquainted with the interconnectedness of social justice, community building, and neighborhood activism. Her passion for service and bringing communities together presents itself in both her work with the Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle and Marjorie Restaurant.
Moodie opened Marjorie in 2003, naming it after her mother as a tribute to her love for entertaining and cooking. Moodie divides her time between running the restaurant and being the Executive Director of the Capitol Hill EcoDistrict housed at the ULMS, which works to improve sustainability and environmental health in Center City neighborhoods.
"(Marjorie) has created a gathering of community. I feel like I've been able to use that as a platform to share a lot of ideas I have about food, social justice and the quality of food." Marjorie is Moodie's third restaurant. Her first, Marco's Supper club in Belltown, she opened in 1993 with her previous partner using their life savings. In 1997, the couple then opened Lush Life in Belltown, which Moodie transformed into Marjorie in 2003 after they split up.
Moodie became executive director of the Capitol Hill EcoDistrict at Community Roots in January 2020, expanding her role to the Executive Vice President of Community Roots Housing, with a focus on Community Development. The Capitol Hill EcoDistrict is a passion fueled program, focused on building environmental resilience through a lens of social justice and racial equity. The EcoDistrict was recently relocated to ULMS, where it will continue to focus on supporting Lowell Elementary, public life planning through street activations, economic empowerment, community advocacy and environmental resilience, sustainability and social justice.
Moodie serves on Arte Noir's Board, the Grist Board, the Seattle Foundation Board and the Chamber Board. She participates in the Central Area and Capitol Hill Land Use Review Committees, has served on several Mayoral commissions and task forces, and the Seattle Center Advisory Commission. She was a founding board member of the Capitol Hill Housing Foundation, chaired the Central District Forum for Arts and Ideas Board. As a consultant, Moodie has advised food business startups and architects on diversity and inclusion and continues to advocate for the support and success of small businesses. Moodie was also a panelist for Sentinel Event Review, appointed by the Office of the Inspector General to conduct a thorough analysis of police and crowd behavior during the protest events of 2020, in hopes to reform a system to inform better outcomes. Donna enjoys food and wine, dinner parties, the arts, paddleboarding and travel.

Dr. Danielson is a clinical professor of pediatrics at the University of Washington, where he received his medical degree in 1992, after completing undergraduate studies at Harvard University. He completed his pediatric residency at Seattle Children's Hospital.
Dr. Benjamin Danielson was the Senior Medical Director for the Odessa Brown Children's Clinic (OBCC) until late 2020. He worked there for over 20 years, combining patient care, clinic leadership and community advocacy.
In early life he was rescued from the foster care system by a single mom who instilled in him and his sisters the value of education and community service.
Dr. Danielson also serves on various boards of health related organizations, philanthropic organizations, and community groups dedicated to health issues. He chairs the Governor's Interagency Council on Health Disparities, co-chaired the Governor's Task Force on creating an Office of Equity, chairs the Group Health Foundation Board, is a board member on King County's Children and Youth Advisory Board, and has been on King County's Board of Health. Dr Danielson was a member of the Washington State Health Benefit Exchange in the first several years from its inception. He is on a number of organizational boards including: the University of Washington Foundation, Amara Adoption and Foster Care Services, and the Center for Children and Youth Justice. He has provided many addresses in numerous venues including the University of Washington's Commencement Address in 2018.
The unifying thread in Dr. Danielson's activities relates to promoting well-being and dignity, especially for communities who have been pushed aside. He has found opportunities within and outside of systems to advocate in partnership with groups and individuals who are dedicated and passionate about creating a better world. He realizes he is the least useful member of the circles he joins and he is inspired - every day - by the children, families, communities and organizations with whom he interacts.
