David P. Lewis - CEO

David has over 30 years' experience in international business as an attorney, corporate adviser, M&A, business strategy, Asian market expansion, licensing and change management. He is an entrepreneur having built several start ups in Australia, the USA, UK and Hong Kong and has advised companies throughout the world. David is also a lawyer with a background in IT and Intellectual Property protection. He is currently Chairman of OLS UK Ltd owner of the international Omnis Software business, CEO of software company The DLA Group, Entrepreneur in Residence at the AFG Venture Group and on several advisory boards. He is a former Visiting Fellow in the Faculties of Law at UNSW and Sydney University. Industry Experience Prior to the establishment of The DLA Group, David practiced as an attorney in the 1980s with the Law Firm then called Freehill Hollingdale & Page in the field of technology law as well as participating in the set-up and design of the extensive knowledge management computer facilities at that firm. David had experience as a software developer and designer of computer networks and was hired in these unique dual roles. David is a published author in the field of Technology & Law, IT and knowledge management. He co-wrote the "Australasian Computerised Legal Information Retrieval Handbook" [Butterworths 1988], a legal textbook that was used by Australian Universities in their curricula. David authored many papers for the International Bar Association on IT Law and Database Technology. He has presented papers throughout the world including international conferences in Australia, UK, France, Singapore and the USA. He has acted as mediator, on referral by the Law Society of New South Wales, in several disputes both related to software and information technology (IT) and other matters and has been responsible for providing advisory services, software development and software implementation for corporations in numerous countries including Australia, the United States, Singapore, Thailand, New Zealand, the Philippines, and various EU countries. David has also provided expert IT evidence in a number of legal matters and was called to give IT and legal evidence and advice to The Australian Federal Government's Senate Standing Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs during the examination of the enhanced taxfile numbering scheme. He also presented the case for ASDA to the Government's Prices Surveillance Authority and Trade Practices Commission during their 1991-92 inquiry into software prices in Australia. He has built The DLA Group over the past 30 years and continues to manage its operations in South East Asia. In 2012 he co-founded and funded a start-up Media Agency to billings over $40M. He exited this investment in early 2017. Late 2016 David acquired Omnis Software Limited from a US based public company and, with co-investors in Europe, privatised the company and moved the HQ to the United Kingdom. David now acts as Chairman of the Board of Omnis.

He spearheads the delivery of our successful Omnis Academy training courses in Australia and New Zealand, and also manages our Omnis 7 conversion service to Omnis Studio for all our clients in South East Asia. Omnis Academy courses are held in Sydney, Brisbane, Auckland, and Perth. Another major focus of Vik's is the expansion of Omnis Developer numbers throughout the region. Vik joined The DLA Group as a consultant in May 2018, after a decade as an independent consultant, and will continue to work with his current clients, including Keys2Solutions.
