The Hyde Park Neighborhood Council cites the establishment of the community in 1892 by a group of prosperous citizens, known as Mornington Syndicate, who wanted to design a community that would preserve natural and architectural beauty and provide a peaceful place for Cincinnatian's to call home. The same year Mornington was established the syndicate changed the community's name to Hyde Park, after the prestigious Hyde Park community in New York, indicating the Mornington Syndicate's desire to attract a higher profile property owner.
