Within the first 2 years of buying our home, we had to replace the garage spring and lift system. The other costly one was our carpet. Sure, we cleaned it ourselves a couple times, but because of infrequent cleanings, four kids, and a Great Dane, our carpet only lasted about 8 years and then we had to replace it."
