My real journey into golf started some 16 years ago with membership at Burlish Park and Wharton Park. Hockey and cricket were my main sports in my youth and now I look forward to the honour of being Captain at Ombersley for 2024/25. We are the friendliest club and I will aim for this to continue moving through my term of office. My vice captain is Shaun Nickless who has much greater youth on his side as well as being a single figure golfer. Please feel free to contact me with suggestions and ideas for the good of the club and to make this great club even better. My chosen charity this year will be split between Kemp Hospice and the County Air Ambulance. Enjoy your golf, have fun and a successful years golfing.

I am very pleased and honoured to be taking up the position of Senior Captain for 2024/25 and look forward to representing Ombersley Golf Club over the coming year.
I was born and raised in Birmingham and in my youth playing mainly cricket and football with some tennis when the opportunity arose. Unfortunately in my early twenties I had a double fracture of my left leg playing football which put an end to my would-be career. After that it was tennis and badminton for me which I played until my early sixties.
I moved to Kinver approximately 50 years ago with my wife, Barbara, and that's where we raised our three children. I started work as an engineering apprentice then design draughtsman working in Birmingham and West Bromwich until my late twenties. I later changed career to Management Services and Human Resources in the public sector for the remainder of my working life.
I retired from work a little over 12 years ago and I needed something to do and that's when golf came into my life.
I aim to do my best to follow the approach taken by my predecessors by endeavouring to be as approachable and welcoming as possible to all members , new and old. So please get in touch with me if there is anything you think I can help with and I will do my best to assist you.
I am pleased to say Dan Daly has agreed to take on the role of Senior Vice-captain for the coming year and I am looking forward to working with him for the benefit of all members.
