Hamish Cherrett

Hamish is a highly knowledgeable Health and Safety and operations professional with over 15 years' experience working in a variety of sectors. Hamish has extensive experience of managing large scale facilities, undertaking senior leadership roles within SME organisations and is currently a Director of Edwin Tucker & Sons Ltd, a family-owned business that operate two Country Stores in Devon. Within many of Hamish's prior senior roles he oversaw Health and Safety Management for entire organisations, leading on training, facilities and operational safety and has vast experience of undertaking fundamental reviews of workplace practices, policies, and risk management to improve the safety culture and effectiveness of the workforce. Since 2017 Hamish has worked as a Health and Safety Consultant providing guidance and support to clients with their health and safety policies and procedures, workforce training and regulatory compliance. This included working with farms, park authorities, and racecourses which has developed his strong understanding of rural based businesses and challenges to overcome. Hamish holds Technical Member status with the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (TechIOSH), a level which recognises both the qualifications and experience needed by professionals working in a range of operational health and safety roles. He joins Farm Safe Consulting with a real breadth of experience and knowledge to support our clients and develop the business. Hamish has extensive experience in managing and auditing health and safety for various businesses.

Jason Painter

Jason was brought up on his family farm and has worked in the farming industry since leaving school. He worked as a general farm worker on a dairy, pig, and arable farm whilst attending Cannington College of Agriculture. Upon leaving agricultural college Jason worked as a herdsman on a 150 cow herd in the west country. In the late 80s and early 90s Jason served as an engineer in the Royal Navy which has given him invaluable training in engineering practices and managing the risks associated with engineering work. It also taught him the skills to lead and manage a team in ship and shore environments. After leaving the Navy Jason worked for a large agricultural contractors based in the west country undertaking a wide variety of tasks as well as providing engineering support during machinery breakdowns. Jason then started a family and undertook the management of three dairy herds for a family farm before moving to North London to take on fresh challenges on a Government run mixed farm. He has worked this dairy, arable and beef unit for a large regional park for over 20 years - he has managed the business since 2016. All the farming enterprises he manages are Red Tractor assured as well as undergoing the supplier audits required for a major milk buyer. Health and safety, staff inductions, site management are all a part of his everyday working practices and he understands the importance of them for both employers and employees. The farming enterprises are continually audited by external specialists (on top of the Red Tractor and milk supplier audits) and the enterprise continue to attain high results under this management. As part of his role he is IOSH trained in safe management practices. Jason is currently a NFU Regional Representative for the dairy sector, did his agricultural degree when he was in his 40s and hates chocolate! Jason has worked in the farming industry for many years running dairy, beef and arable enterprises.
