James Savage

James Savage has retired from a full time position and is currently a Consultant within the Court department at Russel + Aitken (Falkirk + Alloa) Ltd. James is based in the Alloa office but will see clients in the Falkirk office where appropriate. James joined Russel + Aitken in 2014 following a merger with Savage Law Practice and after 32 years in practice. James qualified as a Solicitor in 1982, completing an apprenticeship with C&PH Chalmers in Aberdeen where he developed his skills in the Court department. James works in all areas of the Court department but with emphasis on Children and Family cases, where he has particular expertise. James is a member of the Safeguarders panel which is run by Children 1 st on behalf of the Scottish Government, providing help for families, when needed.

Karen McLachlan - Managing Director

Karen McLachlan is the Managing Director at Russel + Aitken (Falkirk + Alloa) Ltd Karen qualified in 1991 and joined Sergeants in East Kilbride to complete her traineeship, quickly specialising in residential conveyancing. Karen joined Russel + Aitken in September 1998, initially for 6 months to assist with conveyancing, but found herself an essential member of the team, dealing with house purchases, house sales and other conveyancing transactions and is still here. Karen is now the Managing Partner and directly oversees the Conveyancing and Private Client departments but she also has overall responsibility for the day to day operation of the business and strategy implementation.

Marc Convery

Marc Convery is a Director and is the Head of the Residential Conveyancing department of Russel + Aitken (Falkirk + Alloa). Marc is based in the Falkirk office but will see clients in the Alloa office when appropriate. Marc graduated from university with First Class honours and qualified as a Solicitor in March 2013. Marc joined Aaen Peach Legal in Kirkintilloch to complete his traineeship and to develop his conveyancing skills before coming to Russel + Aitken in January 2015 where he took over the Conveyancing department in our Falkirk office. Marc has helped clients buy and sell in a variety of locations and with lots of different types of property.

Michael Lowrie

Phil Bonnar

Job Titles:

Phil Bonnar is a Director within the Court Department at Russel + Aitken. Phil is mainly based in the Alloa office but will see clients in the Falkirk office where appropriate. Phil qualified as a Solicitor in 2013, having undertaken his legal traineeship at the established Edinburgh firm, Warners LLP. Phil then practised in Glasgow for a few years before joining Russel + Aitken in November 2016. Phil specialises in civil litigation, focusing mainly on family law including separation, divorce, cohabitation, child residence and contact matters. Phil appears regularly in Sheriff Courts across central Scotland, Children's Hearings and Eviction Tribunals.

Robert Smith

Robert Smith is a Senior Solicitor in the Court Department of Russel + Aitken. Robert is based in the Alloa office but can see clients in the Falkirk office where appropriate. Robert joined Russel + Aitken in February 2019 with more than 39 years' experience. Robert qualified in 1980 after completing his traineeship with Ferguson, Robertson and Norrie in Dundee. Robert was a former partner with W&AS Bruce before leaving with 3 others to start Peddie Smith Maloco. Robert spent 22 years with Caesar & Howie, primarily in the criminal department, before joining Russel + Aitken.
