Angela Robar

Angela Robar is the Office Administrator for Alternative Programs for Youth and Families, Inc. During her 20 + years, Angela maintains financial records and provides day to day administrative support. Angela is a graduate of Nova Scotia Community College in "Business Information and Technology program," with a focus in accounting. In her spare time, she enjoys camping, reading, four wheeling and spending time with her husband and two sons.

Carol-Ann Brown

  • General Manager of Alternative Programs for Youth
Carol-Ann Brown has been the General Manager of Alternative Programs for Youth and Families, Inc./Alternative Residential Services for Youth Inc. since 1997. She brings over 25 years of front line and management experience providing a variety of social services to youth, families, and organizations. She is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the organization in addition to providing supervision, leadership, case planning/management, program development and program evaluation. Carol-Ann is committed to providing high impact, client driven, professional and accountable services to those we serve.

Dr. Norman Greenberg

Dr. Norman Greenberg is a PHD Developmental Psychologist. He moved to Nova Scotia in 1982 and now resides in Chester, N.S. Norman spent most of his career working for Capital Health- Mental Health Services. His experience with youth and adults led to the creation of Alternative Programs for Youth and Families, Inc. over 30 years ago. The focus for all programs is to create highly effective community-based programs to support challenges faced by families. In Norman's spare time he sits on numerous Boards including those involved in Social Enterprise, Mental Health, and Seniors.

Dwayne Brown

Dwayne Brown is the Residential Manager for Alternative Residential Services for Youth leading a team of qualified individuals who provide care and counseling for children at risk and their families. Dwayne received his diploma for Human Services Child and Youth Care in 2004 from NSCC Truro Campus and has 22 years experience in the field. Dwayne has been working with Alternative Programs for Youth and Families (ARSY's parent company) since 2006. Using an active and engaging approach with residents and team members Dwayne applies his work and life experiences to the supervision of ARSY. When Dwayne isn't working he spends his time with his partner Stacy, family, friends and entertaining on the weekends as a part time musician.

Heather Jaques

Heather Jaques joined Alternative Programs for Youth and Families Inc in 2009 as a child and youth care worker in a community-based setting and residential setting. Heather has a diploma from NSCC in Child and Youth Care. In 2016 Heather was promoted to Manager of our Temporary Emergency Arrangement Program. Heather is passionate about the youth we have in our care and works tirelessly to ensure the highest standard of services are delivered within our places of safety. Heather works collaboratively with social workers, families, and all medical professionals to make sure that our youth in care have all needs met while under our care. Heather feels that all youth need a strong voice and advocate to help them move forward and thrive. Heather comes from a large family of 8 and has always been passionate about working with youth starting with spending her early years in a swimming pool teaching swimming lessons to youth with varying abilities and lifeguard. Whether volunteering or through employment Heather has tried to always be a part of at risk youths lives and being an advocate when they need it and teaching them how to advocate for themselves in healthy production.

Tammy Fiske

Tammy Fiske joined Alternative Programs for Youth and Families Inc, in 2014 as a child and youth worker. Tammy comes from years' experience working in the field of Home for Special Care. Tammy is very passionate about our clients and works alongside her staff to give our clients the best at home feeling she can possibly provide. Tammy works mutually with our disability support workers, social workers, families and medical professionals to make sure all programs are in place for our client's needs. Tammy comes from a family who managed a Home for Special Care since she was 2 years old, she sometimes says I was born to do this work. Witnessing her parents love, compassion, and hard work, she cannot imagine doing anything else but looking after people with special needs. Her strength is her strong willingness to help and care for clients with disabilities and making sure their days are full of sunshine.
