Alan Lipsitz practices primarily in the areas of commercial and public finance and real estate. Alice Harris is an experienced health care, reimbursement, and compliance attorney based in the firm's Columbia, South Carolina office, where she assists hospitals, health care systems, physician practices, skilled nursing facilities, hospice agencies, home health care agencies, and other health care providers with a wide variety of matters. Her practice focuses on health care regulatory compliance, payor audit appeals and defense, reimbursement, billing and coding, COVID-19 advice, compliance program guidance, response to federal and state contractor audits, internal investigations, fraud and abuse analysis and litigation matters, federal and state survey and certification matters, Medicaid Cost Report appeals, EMTALA investigations, transactional compliance due diligence, and other health care regulatory and litigation matters.

Andrew Mathias concentrates on white-collar criminal matters and high stakes civil litigation. He has helped guide businesses-large and small-through internal investigations, investigations by government agencies, and criminal prosecutions. Andrew has also assisted individuals in the same situations. Additionally, Andrew has handled various kinds of civil litigation, including shareholder disputes, tort claims with significant damages at stake, and contract disputes with millions of dollars at risk.
Andrew's litigation practice has taken him up and down the east coast. He is licensed to practice in all South Carolina courts, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Supreme Court of the United States. He has been admitted to practice pro hac vice (for the purpose of a particular case) in other courts as well, including the Eastern District of North Carolina, the Southern District of New York, the Southern District of Texas, and the District of New Hampshire.
Much of Andrew's practice involves negotiating with private civil lawyers and government prosecutors. He also interacts with civil and criminal investigators at all levels of the justice system including, but not limited to, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Secret Service, Department of Transportation (DOT), Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). In South Carolina, Andrew regularly interacts with the Attorney General's office, the Department of Revenue (SCDOR), and the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR).
Andrew's trial experience spans all courts. He's handled high-profile white-collar criminal cases in the Southern District of New York (SDNY), as well as local civil and criminal matters in South Carolina's state courts. Andrew has represented clients in appeals in a similar range of courts, from all South Carolina appellate courts to the Supreme Court of the United States and the intermediary federal appellate courts.
Andrew's internal investigations and white-collar criminal defense practice has garnered clients in the financial industry from various states across the country. In this area, he has represented banks, Independent Advisor Representatives, Registered Investment Advisors, Broker-Dealers, and independent insurance advisors. In many instances, prosecution is avoided. But, when his clients are indicted, Andrew and the team of white-collar defense lawyers at Nexsen Pruet will aggressively handle a case through trial.

Andrew Saleeby joins Nexsen Pruet's esteemed tax group as Special Counsel after years of policy and litigation work at the South Carolina Department of Revenue. His practice focuses on state and local and federal tax, economic development, business, and regulatory laws.
Andrew's background as a CPA provides him with a unique business perspective that he brings to the table when working with clients. Whether he is representing clients in tax controversy matters, walking them through the process of earning tax and other economic development incentives for their projects, or helping structure business formations, sales, and acquisitions in a tax-efficient manner, Andrew believes his clients' money is better off in their hands than the government's, because the client understands the value of that dollar. The philosophy that money is spent more efficiently by those who earn it guides Andrew in every matter. Before joining South Carolina Department of Revenue, Andrew practiced with a prestigious South Carolina law firm counseling clients on economic development incentives, tax planning and compliance for partnerships, corporations, and other business conduits, and controversies against the Internal Revenue Service and South Carolina Department of Revenue.
Andrew's legal career began when he enrolled at the University of South Carolina School of Law, where he received CALI awards for Partnership and LLC Tax, Corporate Tax, and Estate and Gift Tax. The faculty presented him with the Arthur B. Custy Award, signifying the School's most outstanding tax student.
Following law school, Andrew enrolled at NYU School of Law and earned his LL.M. in taxation. Although Andrew did well in all his courses at NYU, he was the top performer in partnership taxation.

Angus H. Macaulay is certified as a Specialist in Employment and Labor law by the South Carolina Supreme Court. He represents management in employment litigation matters, and these include the defense of discrimination claims. Angus has also defended and prosecuted claims involving restrictive covenants such as non-competition and confidentiality agreements. As a part of his practice, he provides practical advice to employers on ways to minimize litigation risks and comply with federal and state employment laws. Angus is a frequent lecturer on employment-related topics.
Angus's practice also includes representing corporate clients in civil litigation in state and federal courts. He has represented insurers in bad faith and breach of contract actions. He has defended lending institutions from claims of civil RICO and breach of contract claims, and he has represented corporate clients in shareholder "squeeze-out" and unfair trade practice actions.
Angus is also a certified mediator. He has mediated numerous employment, business and personal injury lawsuits.
Angus has served on the boards of several local civic organizations. He was the 2012-2013 President of the South Carolina Bar, and he remains active in the Bar.

Ashleigh M. Greene is a corporate attorney with Nexsen Pruet's corporate and tax practice group, based out of the firm's Greensboro office. She supports corporate clients in transactional matters including leasing, purchasing and selling commercial real estate, corporate governance, compliance, structure and formation, and other commercial agreements. She advises in-house counsel on corporate transactions and litigation matters. She has also negotiated settlements and participated in mediation under the American Arbitration Association.
Ashleigh also has business litigation experience, with a background in complex business litigation, real estate disputes, shareholder disputes and business torts disputes.
As a graduate of Wake Forest University and native of Greensboro, Ashleigh is familiar with Greensboro and the Triad. After obtaining her B.S. in Business, she worked for three years for one of the largest banks in the United States in commercial and personal banking. Thereafter, she received her J.D. from Washington and Lee University School of Law and worked with a boutique commercial litigation firm in Miami through 2017.
Throughout her studies, Ashleigh immersed herself in many international opportunities. She studied abroad in Spain, Canada and China, as well as participated in the International Human Rights Practicum with Washington and Lee University and the Women's Legal Aid Centre (WLAC) in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Austin King is Counsel in Nexsen Pruet's Raleigh office and serves in the Commercial Litigation Practice Group. Austin is an accomplished litigator with experience resolving complex litigation in high-stakes, bet-the-company business litigation from the investigatory stage through discovery, trial, and appeal. Prior to joining Nexsen Pruet, Austin worked as an associate at two "top ten" international law firms focusing on antitrust, intellectual property, and business litigation generally.
Austin practices in the areas of complex civil and commercial litigation, antitrust, business disputes, class-action defense, and intellectual property. In addition, Austin has invaluable first-hand experience from his service in the state and federal judiciaries. After law school, Austin spent two years as a law clerk to U.S. District Judge Charles A. Pannell, Jr., of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. Austin also clerked for the Honorable John S. Arrowood of the North Carolina Court of Appeals. Moreover, Austin served under U.S. District Judge Terrence W. Boyle of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina, as well as for Chief Justice Paul M. Newby of the North Carolina Supreme Court.
Austin earned his law degree, with honors, from the University of North Carolina School of Law. He earned his undergraduate degree in finance from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington where he finished first in his class and valedictorian of the Cameron School of Business.
