Karim Lahham

Karim undertakes general chancery and commercial work. He has a special interest and expertise in Islamic commercial and arbitration laws and Arab legal systems, mainly in the context of multi-jurisdictional disputes. In this context, he has advised in the past on difficult issues relating to shipping law as well as international construction projects encompassing Egyptian, UAE and Kuwaiti laws. He has regularly appeared in the Chancery and Kings Bench Divisions on commercial matters as well as qualifying as a mediator in 2003. Prior to Del Canto Chambers, Karim was a member of Littman Chambers from 2001 to 2010. Karim read law at St Edmund Hall, Oxford and completed a doctorate in Islamic law at Pembroke College, Cambridge. He also holds an MA in sculpture from the Royal College of Art, London. Karim was called to the Bar in 1999 as a Major Scholar of the Inner Temple. He remains a senior research fellow of Tabah Foundation since 2005, a leading research think tank based in Cairo and Abu Dhabi and has published widely in the context of Islamic law, Islamic theology, Roman Catholic canon law and philosophy. He also lectures regularly on the said topics. Karim is fluent in Arabic and French and can accept papers in both these languages.

Leon Fernando del Canto - Founder

Fernando is a tax qualified English Barrister and Spanish Abogado and he is instructed regularly by solicitors and auditors all around the world. Fernando can be instructed by private clients as a public access Barrister and is accredited as such by the England and Wales Bar Standards Board. Fernando has audience rights in Ireland under the Bar Council in Ireland and in Spain under Abogacía Española. Fernando has broad international tax & legal experience and has represented clients in Madrid, New York, London, Dublin, Delhi, Jersey, Guernsey, Gibraltar, Doha, Dubai, and Hong Kong. He advocates for private clients and their families as well as for companies with international operations. He got his UK tax qualification with KPMG, Deloitte and Grant Thornton before moving to private practice. In 2006 he became the first Spanish citizen to hold a double qualification as a Barrister in England and Spanish Abogado when he joined The Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn in London. Mr. Francisco Almansa is a lawyer of Spanish citizenship. Mr. Almansa obtained his Law degree from the University of Almeria in 2001, and a Master's Degree in International Migrations and transnational movements of people from the European University of Madrid (Spain). Paula Losada
