In 1966, a need arose for horizontal drains in large slide areas along the newly constructed freeways throughout the United States. The existing drilling equipment was slow and made the cost-per-foot-drilled expensive. At JENSEN DRILLING, we developed drilling equipment on crawler tractors so that drilling could be accomplished in rough terrain and where access was nearly impossible. This equipment could use longer lengths of drill pipe making it 5 times faster than the old method, thus reducing the cost per foot and made many more projects feasible.
