ROWLAND UTILITY ENGINEERING - Key Persons

John Rowland

"I have worked the last 26+ years as a Senior Underground Distribution Engineer for Ameren Missouri in the Underground Division, specializing in spot-grid low voltage network distribution systems and radial distribution planning and operation. Duties included system improvement and major customer projects, from initial concept and design through construction and commissioning. Additionally, I worked on developing innovative new technologies for the network and radial distribution systems, and training of new distribution engineers. Major activities and projects include development of Underground's planning criteria, upgrades to the Ameren Missouri network distribution system to N-2, radial and network route diversity upgrades, fielding of smart grid technologies, and planning of several unique distribution substations (bus configurations) and underground feeder distribution (cable and conduit systems). Additional duties included network system equipment procurement (protectors and connector devices) and distribution automation switchgear technologies development and implementation. Customer engineering work included developing the standard and specifications for customer indoor substations. Prior to working at Ameren, I was employed by the City of St. Louis and a local consulting engineering firm, engineering power distribution systems for large and small City of St. Louis and private business buildings and infrastructure. I am a 1991 graduate of Missouri S&T University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. And I have been a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Missouri since 1998.
