During his time in law enforcement, Chris was fortunate enough to participate in many high-profile criminal investigations, both as an investigator and as a digital forensics examiner. In 2012 Chris was selected to participate as a fulltime member of a Federal cybercrime task force where he investigated computer network intrusions, sex trafficking of minors, child pornography cases and many other cases that involved digital evidence. He also obtained a top secret security clearance as required by the federal agency to which he was attached. In addition to working cyber cases, the security clearance also allowed him to assistant in several high-profile and sensitive federal cases involving homicide, robbery, drugs, medical fraud and terrorism. It was through these cases that Chris saw first-hand the importance of digital evidence in criminal cases. After his time ended on the task force, Chris helped to establish his agency's first digital forensics unit, one of the few such units in the Upstate New York region at the time. Serving as a digital forensics examiner and investigator, Chris assisted with numerous cases from local, State and Federal law enforcement agencies. He developed a reputation with civilians, investigators, attorneys and judges alike as not only a go-to person for his expertise but also as someone willing to help anyone, anytime with anything digital. Chris has also given presentations at various events about cyber security as well as trained numerous students in digital forensics and electronic media in general. He has always enjoyed teaching as a way of showing just how cool this field is! Over time, Chris received training from various State and Federal law enforcement organizations and earned several certifications. Among those certifications is the IACIS Certified Forensic Computer Examiner (CFCE) and the Certified Mobile Device Examiner (CMDE), also from IACIS. Chris also completed a Master's Degree (MSc.) in Forensic Computing and Cybercrime Investigations (FCCI) from the University College Dublin.
