Alex Plavnik, an Engagement Director on Treliant's Data Solutions team, has over 15 years of experience in front and middle office roles within the Financial Services industry. Alex is a banking executive, leading trading operations, capital markets system upgrades, cloud migrations, and regulatory projects for derivatives applications such as Murex, Summit, and Bloomberg. Allan Llarena

Allan Llarena, Senior Director with Treliant, has over 15 years of experience helping various sized financial institutions in the U.S., Canada, and Europe to identify, investigate, and mitigate financial crime risk. With a heavy focus on complex international money laundering and fraud investigations, "know your customer" (KYC), and enhanced due diligence (EDD), as well as anti-money laundering (AML) risk assessments, Allan's years of experience were gained in-house from working in AML compliance departments of large global financial institutions as well as from being a client-centric practitioner in the professional services industry. Allan has worked with top U.S. and global banks, foreign banking organizations, regional banks, and federal agencies, managing project teams of over 100 personnel including highly experienced AML and fraud professionals. His most recent projects have included assisting a top U.S. bank in assessing its transaction monitoring program to identify how personnel, processes, and technologies could be enhanced to achieve efficiencies, and assisting a client in identifying fraud, waste, and abuse in a federal pandemic relief program by standing up an "aggregate review" team tasked with uncovering and investigating networks of related or linked fraudulent borrowers and loans. Bala Rani, a Senior Director in Treliant's Data Solutions practice, is a senior technology program executive with over twenty years of advanced experience directing and driving transformational banking programs from concept through post-implementation. He has extensive expertise in developing, governing, and executing strategic roadmaps to deliver critical applications and data-centric programs to meet challenging organizational goals. Prior to Treliant, Bala was Executive Director in the Corporate Technology division at JP Morgan Chase, where he was responsible for sourcing, hosting, distributing, and controlling data from the global systems of record for multiple asset classes. This work supported the bank's corporate risk and finance groups that manage credit, capital, liquidity, and market risk, including delivering major regulatory initiatives like non-cleared margin rules and clearinghouse risk. Before his role in Corporate Technology, Bala worked in Chase Home Lending, where he led many transformational programs in support of capital markets, secondary marketing, and mortgage operations functions. Ben's delivery track record spans systems development, regulatory delivery, and data strategy. His systems development achievements range from DART, a derivatives trading platform for Goldman Sachs, to complete IT estate builds for enterprises such as Elgin Capital LLP. Brian Weintraub

Cathy Lemieux Ph.D. a Senior Advisor with Treliant, has over 30 years of experience in financial services regulation, corporate governance/enterprise risk management, international banking regulation, and the Community Reinvestment Act. Cathy has helped banks of all sizes aligning their internal controls with their regulatory obligations, assessing their compliance and enterprise risk management frameworks, and their associated policies and procedures. Cathy has helped develop applications for new bank charters and authored strategic plans for banks with nationwide digital platforms. Cathy has worked with non-banks to obtain approval of their CRA investments products from the OCC. Finally, Cathy was worked with a variety of different sized organizations respond to regulatory criticisms. Before joining Treliant, Cathy was the Executive Vice President of Banking Supervision at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, the second largest supervision group in the Federal Reserve System. She led a staff of 540 examiners and risk specialists and supervised over 600 banking organizations. She was responsible for supervising community, regional and large banks located in the Midwest including the U.S. operations of three large international firms and has worked with foreign regulators in the UK, Canada, the Nordic Countries, the Netherlands, and China. In the aftermath of the 2008 Financial Crisis, Cathy was involved in the Federal Reserve's efforts to revamp bank supervision focusing on large and regional banking organizations. Cathy's published research focuses on the impact of FinTech lending on underserved areas, how artificial intelligence can benefit consumers, and how FinTech lending is impacting the community banking arena. Other research covers banking conditions, agricultural finance, credit and operational risk as well as the role of bank directors. Prior to joining Treliant, Conor worked as a Consultant with Berkeley Research Group, advising clients in a variety of financial crimes compliance areas, such as leading the strategic approach to remediation of a formal agreement issued to a FinTech-focused bank by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), performing a coverage assessment of suspicious activity monitoring for a digital financial services company to ensure money laundering risks were appropriately addressed, and designing and implementing a customer risk rating model for an international bank. Additionally, he spent over four years with US Bank assisting in the remediation of an OCC consent order and managing teams responsible for performing enhanced due diligence on customers posing increased money laundering risk. Daniel Lam

Daniel Lam is a Consultant with Treliant whose skills include KDB+ development, experience building programs for data loading across exchanges, and knowledge of AWS, Python, and Linux. As a consultant at a hedge fund, Daniel has worked to accommodate the needs of multiple portfolio managers. He managed the KDB+ support process for escalated tickets, decommissioned old AWS infrastructure, and optimized setup and configuration of financial data management. He also decommissioned legacy KDB+ code, and documented and organized information regarding past and existing infrastructure of the KDB+ setup for new hires. He has worked with financial institutions, publicly-traded companies, and state government agencies. Dan has a history in financial crimes compliance stemming from his experience at the global consulting and financial advisory firms of AlixPartners/Freeh Group, Guidehouse, and KPMG. His expertise includes conducting sensitive investigations related to professional misconduct, bribery and corruption, fraud, economic sanctions, and money laundering. He has also conducted extensive financial and risk control audits for financial institutions, energy providers, and publicly traded companies. Dan is a member of Treliant's Global Financial Crimes Compliance practice. His past engagements in this field include an assessment and lookback investigation of a Northeast U.S. correspondent bank's program for anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT). The review of international wire transactions identified nearly $145 million in suspicious transactions from high-risk jurisdictions in the Middle East, East Asia, and Central America. The transactions were reported to the U.S. Treasury Department's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) via suspicious activity reports (SAR) for possible violations of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Office of Foreign Assets Control's (OFAC's) Specially Designated Nationals List (SDN).

Darcy Allen

Darcy Allen has over 25 years of financial crimes compliance experience spanning government, consulting, banking, and retail. Darcy started his career with the Canadian government, working within the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), which included leading a national team of customs intelligence and investigations officers working as part of the Integrated Proceeds of Crime (IPOC) joint force operation with several government organizations, including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). In this role, he participated in the creation and implementation of the Canadian government's Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act. This act established the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre (FINTRAC) as well as the cross-border reporting of currency, for which he was instrumental in securing funding for the currency detector dog (K-9) program. Darcy has also worked as an AML compliance officer within FINTRAC, Capital One, and Citibank, as well as a senior advisor with the New York office of Promontory Financial Group. He most recently led a global team at Walmart responsible for overseeing the anti-money laundering and financial services compliance program.
