David Elstob

Before setting up Elstob Auctioneers, David was Director at Thomas Watson Auctioneers in Darlington and headed up the saleroom team at Addisons of Barnard Castle in County Durham. He has an MA in Antiques from the University of Central Lancashire and regular appearances on many antiques-related TV shows. Although David has extensive general knowledge of antiques, his particular specialism is 20th-Century design, particularly the work of Robert ‘Mouseman' Thompson. This renowned Yorkshire furniture maker was part of the 1920's revival of craftsmanship inspired by the Arts and Crafts movement led by William Morris, John Ruskin and William Carlyle, and Elstob Auctioneers has become a focal point for buying and selling his work and of his followers. Its founder David Elstob has a vast wealth of experience in the sector. He is joined by a dedicated team of top-performing specialists who provide unrivalled expertise in various fields.

Henrietta Graham

Henrietta has considerable knowledge of the antiques market built up over a distinguished career of high-level trading, working for some of the biggest names in the business. She spent 15 years as Bonham's representative and general valuer in the North East and 12 years working for Sotheby's. Henrietta now has her fine art and antiques consultancy business and specialises in 18 th, 19 th and 20 th-century paintings. Henrietta's broad knowledge of antiques means she can advise Elstob Auctioneers clients on selling single items or take an overview of more extensive collections or house sales. She has been involved with several high-profile sales, including the Nun Monkton House Sale, the Ripley Castle Collection and the Meade Irish Silver Collection. Her expertise is knowing what, when and how best to sell, making her recommendations invaluable to potential sellers. Henrietta also carries out formal valuations for insurance, probate and family division.

Nick Bassett

Nick is in an excellent position to advise Elstob Auctioneers clients in this niche area, with a career in the watch industry spanning more than 30 years. He first came to the North East in 1989 to take up a management position with Northern Goldsmiths and was soon promoted to General Manager of the flagship Blackett Street store in Newcastle. With a Retail Jewellers Diploma awarded by the National Association of Jewellers, Nick has detailed working experience with most major brands of watches, including Rolex, Omega, Breitling, TAG Heuer, Cartier and Longines. He is currently an independent sales manager for several European-based watch manufacturers, including Michel Herbelin (France), Bruno Söhnle (Germany), Dietrich (Switzerland) and Gagá (Italy). Nick combines his passion for watches with another keen interest - football! He is happy to share his knowledge of both subjects! He worked as Football Secretary for York City FC and was part of the London 2012 Olympics team that hosted the football matches played at St. James Park, Newcastle.

Rohan McCulloch

With over 15 years of experience at Sotheby's, Bonhams and Lyon & Turnbull, Rohan has extensive knowledge of the art and auction world. He grew up surrounded by art and is genuinely passionate about paintings, drawings and sculpture. British and European Art, Old Masters and portraits of all eras are exciting. At Newcastle University (where he studied Archaeology), Rohan has built up a large following of private collectors, top art dealers and corporate curators who buy and sell art. He is also well known for finding ‘sleepers' - undervalued works of art that have been misattributed. Indeed, Rohan discovered and sold paintings by Rubens, Edvard Munch and many other significant artists from the 15th to 21st centuries. He enjoys sharing the whole auction process with clients - from valuing to advising and selling - and finds it a pleasure to tell people about their objects and histories.
