David P. Miller - CEO, Founder

Job Titles:
  • CEO
  • Founder
  • Member of the Leadership Team
Dave is a board-certified clinical informaticist and primary care physician who is passionate about leveraging technology to transform the way we deliver care. Prior to medical school, Dave studied economics and English at the College of William & Mary where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and graduated magna cum laude with high honors. He then attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha national medical honorary society and graduated with distinction. Dave completed residency training in internal medicine at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center and served an additional year at Dartmouth as Chief Medical Resident and Instructor in Medicine before joining the Wake Forest University School of Medicine faculty. He soon found himself frustrated by how little medical practice had embraced technology to improve healthcare quality and efficiency. This frustration started him on a 20-year path of developing, studying, and implementing digital health interventions to empower patients to play a greater role in their care. Dr. Dave Miller first had the idea for mPATH™ when he found himself giving the same rushed speech about screening for cancer over and over again to his primary care patients. He wondered why healthcare wasn't using technology to help patients better manage their care in the same way the travel industry was letting people find the best flights or train tickets online. This started Dave on a 20-year journey of developing and testing computer programs to teach patients about preventive health topics and connect them with needed care. Along this journey, Dave met Dr. Ajay Dharod, a computer & electrical engineer turned physician who had the same passion for using technology to improve patients' lives and reduce physician workload. Ajay contributed his extensive knowledge of informatics and electronic health record architecture to grow the mPATH™ prototype into a fully functional secure application. Having proven mPATH's ability to double cancer screening rates, Dave and Ajay are now expanding mPATH to other preventive care needs to help health systems close critical care gaps. Dave is a board-certified internal medicine physician and clinical informaticist. He has over 20 years of experience developing and implementing digital health interventions in primary care settings. Optimizing care delivery is his passion.
