Dr. Raven Davenport

She received her Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Texas School of Law at Austin in 1996 and has been licensed to practice law by the State Bar of Texas since 1997. She has 23 years experience in law concurrently with 18 years experience in education. She is an attorney currently teaching Business law and International business law courses for HCC. She has developed several online courses for HCC including International Business Law and Business Ethics. She also developed and teaches a Multi-Cultural Diversity course for College faculty. She is currently chairs the Business Administration program and has had several leadership roles, as a liason for the program's Advisory Committee for the District, development of curriculum and selection of the textbooks/instructional materials for the Program, maintenance of a data base of qualified faculty with credentials and special expertise, program reviews and progress reports, and monitoring the scheduling of courses, including distance education offerings. Dr. Davenport has worked on several international initiatives in education. In 2017 she participate in China's ambitions for One Belt One Road (OBOR) Study Tour. She took business students on a Study Tour to London, Paris and Rome to study the difference between how business is conducted in Europe and the US. She became a fellow of the Salzburg Global Seminar where she participated in ISP 48- Colleges and Universities as Sites of Global Citizenship in Salzburg, Austria. She also participated in the Oxford Round Table, presenting a paper on "Business Ethics in a Global Economy in Oxford, England in March 2010. In 2009, she completed the 8th Biennial International Business Institute for Community College Faculty. This 4 day workshop provided ample information and contacts for expanding HCC's International Program. She created several workshops for the Export Academy's "Internationalizing the Curriculum" and has conducted several break-out sessions in reference to Global Ethics. In 2008, she became a People to People ambassador and participated as an International delegate for Law and Legal Systems delegation to Egypt. She traveled to Egypt with a group of American lawyers to study Islamic law and culture. She also has participated on several committees for Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB).
